New Himalayan owner from Arizona

Getting there...
Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm a long-time sportbike rider but haven't been doing much riding in the past few years due to spending more time obsessing over my cars. I still have a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 that's very dear to me but decided recently I wanted to get a cheap second bike to get back into riding and work on my skills again without the greater expense and risk of doing it on my old superbike. Initially I was going to get a Honda CB300R but heard about the Himalayan while researching good small-displacement bikes.

I ended up really liking the retro look of it that's very different from every other ADV and so I bit the bullet last month. Since then I've been seriously impressed with how capable and fun it is to ride. Sure, it's dead slow compared to my GSX-R but it's fast enough to do the job and because it isn't fast or intimidating it's actually helping me try things that I hadn't done before like riding off-road. I'm currently still breaking her in but I've already made plans to go moto camping for the first time next month and maybe do some longer touring rides later on.

Still have a lot to learn about this new world my HImalayan has opened up for me so I thought I'd join here to absorb more of that helpful knowledge :)

Oh, and here's some pics from a Christmas ride I did to a local lake:

Welcome.
Got to admit that Arizona at Christmas looks and awful lot more inviting than Manchester UK - cold and damp
That's true but you wouldn't want our summers - highs hitting 48 degrees Celsius lol. I survive them by telling myself it's a perfect time to head for the mountains and go camping :)

Yup! I love modifying my cars and bikes and I love the outdoors so I've had a blast throwing stuff on the Himalayan to get her ready to do some moto camping!
On your reply, looked at your photographs again and realised you have the rule of thirds happening 👍 … not sure on purpose or coincidentally …great.

Oh, thanks, that was intentional :) I'm a huge car nut so I've been running a small personal car blog for a while now. A couple of years back I decided I needed to do a better job with my photos so I've been working hard to improve ever since. Here's a few pics I've gathered over the years:
