Getting there...

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm a long-time sportbike rider but haven't been doing much riding in the past few years due to spending more time obsessing over my cars. I still have a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 that's very dear to me but decided recently I wanted to get a cheap second bike to get back into riding and work on my skills again without the greater expense and risk of doing it on my old superbike. Initially I was going to get a Honda CB300R but heard about the Himalayan while researching good small-displacement bikes.
I ended up really liking the retro look of it that's very different from every other ADV and so I bit the bullet last month. Since then I've been seriously impressed with how capable and fun it is to ride. Sure, it's dead slow compared to my GSX-R but it's fast enough to do the job and because it isn't fast or intimidating it's actually helping me try things that I hadn't done before like riding off-road. I'm currently still breaking her in but I've already made plans to go moto camping for the first time next month and maybe do some longer touring rides later on.
Still have a lot to learn about this new world my HImalayan has opened up for me so I thought I'd join here to absorb more of that helpful knowledge
Oh, and here's some pics from a Christmas ride I did to a local lake:
