I picked up a new slate Himalayan yesterday and rode 50mls home. Took a few miles before I got into the swing of it but enjoyed the small back roads were the bike was just thumping away. Found what I read was about right ,front brake rubbish , back brake good ,comfortable seat & good suspension. What did surprise me was how well it handled round bends .looking forward to getting out on it today..

What a surprise. Good to see you Doboy.

Edit[Snipped the story about how I nearly had a Vstrom but got the Hima instead, not really appropriate for intros]

Workshop...I see your at Rotherham were do you take yours for servicing landsurfer 74 ...???

WORKSOP ...
LOL .... Had the 2nd service done at Manhattan in Sheffield but will be doing all my own servicing in future .... usual problems ... steering bearings (Manhattan), moisture in the instruments (Manhattan) and finally battery failure (Manhattan) ...all under warranty .... water in the tank continues to be a problem ... but the one thing that improves the Himma experience is a good warm up ... it's not a "start and ride" BMW ... it's a RE .... let it warm up on the centre stand ....
In Worksop almost daily ... if you ever fancy a ride out to a cafe etc ...

I also just picked up my 2020 himalayan in thailand. Bike was delivered to me with the oil sight window full on the center stand after warm up. This is how it came from the factory. Is your oil between the lines or completely full? Thanks

You'll be meaning the Evap box? That is supposed to filter/direct the fuel fumes from the fueltank to the inletport. Exactly how it works is beyond me: I once blew in the hose from the tank to the box and I can't imagine that I ever get that sort of pressure in the tank to open the valve....
One of these days I'll try to open the system to find out how it works.

Hi, just noticed a loose black box floating around under my recently bashed bash plate, and found this thread! I take it it is the Evap Box? Is it supposed to be loose or fixed? I have a Cooperb heavy duty sump guard which took a bit of a bash today during my first forage onto some Welsh green lanes!
