    Greetings and Felicitations

The ATE brakes left a lot to be desired, on both the R80/7 and the R100S I changed the under tank master cylinder to a handlebar mounted Brembo item from a later model. It helped a little, better feel to the lever if anything.

    Greetings and Felicitations

The siebenrock parts do seem to work well. I never had many problems as such with any of the airhead beemers I owned. I found that keeping the carbs balanced and valves adjusted was important for smooth running. Unfortunately I've lost/misplaced the photos of my other airheads. I had a 1979...

Hello From Liverpool UK and instant query

Do you ever go up the East Lancs road to watch the RFU at Liverpool-St Helens club at Windle? I live near there.

    Greetings and Felicitations

I replaced the original as I didn't like the tiny flyscreen with the larger Wunderlich screen fitted. The side stand is a rare Migsel item from a bloke in Belgium. My engine was standard, but I'd replaced the timing chain and tensioner, fitted new valves, seats and springs, upgraded diode bord...

    Greetings and Felicitations

I owned an R100GS for ten years, I spent a fair bit of money on it over the years (it 20 years old when I bought it off my brother in law) and it's a bike I really regret selling. Are you sure about selling it? Don't do it! 😃

    Greetings and Felicitations

Croeso i'r fforwm. I like your taste in bikes. I did a full ground up nut and bolt restoration on a 1978 R100S smoke red colour (best colour) about 18years ago. That's one bike I regret selling. I've never owned an MZ, but would like a TS250 to tinker with.

I see a lot of Aged riders, coming back to riding, or just starting out?

Heated gear is no good when the roads are covered in frost and ice patches. It's not got above 2deg centigrade here today, it was minus 2deg when I left the house this morning. Looks lovely across the fields and rooftops though. I even saw a brass monkey looking for a welder. :D

I see a lot of Aged riders, coming back to riding, or just starting out?

I started riding at 14, just on fields and farm tracks. I got my first road legal bike when I was 16 and haven't stopped since. I'm coming up to 66 and don't plan on stopping yet. I'll admit to no longer riding during December through to March as I'm starting to feel the cold more these days. I...

    Servicing schedule/intervals

Something to consider if doing your own service rather than the dealer, is not only keeping the warranty valid, but also the RE roadside rescue. I don't know if the dealer updates it after doing the service work. I have separate roadside cover so not an issue for me.

There is no such thing as a free lunch....but ..................

I suppose it's nice to get something back for the money they charge to get in and park your car. I've not been for several years, much prefer the classic show at Stafford.

    Brake pads

I've used EBC-HH pads for many years, just replaced the original pads on my 650 Interceptor, a lot more feel/bite, although not fully bedded in yet.

2023 what parts or accessories have you tried this year and how did it go?

I got them from Hitchcocks, they are standard length, but because I'm a bat fastard I got stronger springs fitted (Hitchcocks sorted that out) I've used Hagons before on a Harley Sportster and they worked well. I got them because they look better and more retro, and should work better than the...

2023 what parts or accessories have you tried this year and how did it go?

In the last few months I've fitted Enfield Precision silencers - sound great. In recent weeks replaced original CEAT (teflon non stick 😁) tyres with a pair of BT46 - night and day difference. Last week replaced original front and rear brake pads with EBC HH pads. Not bedded in yet, but already...

    Servicing schedule/intervals

I suppose if you kept receipts and had your own service log that would go someway to show it's been serviced. If something major failed within the first few years and if you've below average miles you may be able to claim under the consumer protection act ( i think it was formerly the sale of...

    Last ride of the season

55 deg F (12cent) is almost a summers day here😄 We're now getting a few cooler days some around 7 or 8 deg C, with the rain to go with it. I try to get out if there's a lull in the rain, but as soon as the frosts come and the salt/gritting wagons hit the road I'll lay my bikes up. Maybe a...

    Interceptor Tyres

I had Avon Trail Riders fitted to my Yamaha XTZ1200 Super Tenere and BMW R100GS, great tyres, good grip on wet and dry roads and adequate for the easy trail riding I did. Got about 5k from the Yam and over 6k from the BMW, never had to replace them as I sold the bike.

    Interceptor Tyres

Prior to the pandemic I would cover around 15000 miles a year but my miles have always been split between two or three bikes. I still prefer grip to extended tyre life, there has to be some trade off, I accept the cost as just being part of the price I pay for my hobby.
