Barkbuster hand guards installation 2021 Himalayan

Hello everyone.
I’m installing Bark buster two point mount hand guards (BHG 084) to my partners 2021 euro 4 Himalayan.
Currently having issues with hitting gauges at full lock. Noted the installation instructions to move screen forward but that’s not the concern.

I have tried moving them up, down, flipping parts left and right and currently unsuccessfully finding a combination of angles to achieve contactless connections.

Would anyone be kind enough to confirm if installation without contact on full lock is achievable and a matter of the right positioning or is it an engineering design flaw from bark busters?

Photos would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Your clutch lever looks like my brake lever! 🤣 Sorry I can't offer any insight into the fitment issue. I use the bar-end OEM guards.

When I installed them on my Interceptor I spent probably 3 hours one day, then a few days later spent another 2 hours. With zero instructions and quite a few combinations that can be assembled from all of the parts that make up the inboard brackets I eventually settled on a position that worked but didnt seem perfect.

And yes an Interceptor has its clocks mounted on the forks not frame mounted.

I wound up drilling out my stock handlebar end caps to accept the larger diameter bolts the Barkbusters use. Spacing the guards further outward from the end of my handlebars seemed to make everything fit much better. But i still needed to bend the main guard bar a little bit here and there to make things fit right.

If wider handlebars are a possibility for you I'm sure mounting your Barkbusters will be easier.

Edit: would swapping the highlighted part between the left and right sides give you more room if you added bar end spacers?

Haha yes ironically she dropped her Himmy for the first time the day before the barkbusters arrived. Even more ironically in the process of buying a replacement clutch lever realised that I have bought $200 guards to protect a $25 part. Need her to drop it another 8 times to get my money’s worth haha.

Appreciate the reply, Bike didn’t come with the original bar ends so I also drilled out the spacers that came in the kit (think they were for KTM) to get some bar width still unfortunately makes contact with the gauges. I also tried swapping the “L” connectors still no luck. Feels like I’m trying to solve a puzzle with all the different possible combinations of angles. I’m giving Barkbusters engineering team the benefit of doubt that its myself that hasn’t worked it out yet rather than poor design. Will have another go at it tonight. Maybe a stout will help.

Here's a pic of the LH side on my 2020 Himmi which should be similar to your 2021. I got some flack when I posted this a couple years ago for being "backwards" or "upside down", but it fits and doesn't hit the gauges. It also gives added clearance for the clutch & enrichment cables. The RH side is "upside down" too. but again it fits & doesn't hit the gauges or the master cylinder brake line (sort of hard to see in the pic, but its under the master cylinder nub for the brake line).

Appreciate the pics… if it achieves functional goal of protection without steering restraint and or wiping out dash then I don’t see a problem there.

Barkbusters team were helpful and responsive within hours to my question. I sent through pics and they said that I need the original bar ends fitted.

Unfortunately bike didn’t come with them. Based on that I’m assuming its a width factor and if I know their width I can make/find a spacer to widen the bars. Do you have original bar ends fitted? If so how wide are they?

thanks in advance

Yes, I have the stock ones and they extend 1-9/16" from the end of the handle bar.

I bet you could find them on eBay.
Great thanks,

I have found some bar ends on ebay. $40 Aus delivered from India.
I have set the screws out about 1-9/16 (width of bar ends) and the hand guards clear the windscreen and gauges at full lock. Win!

Once the ends arrive I tighten it all down.
Appreciate the help.

For summary and quick reference this has been resolved and the issue was not having original bar ends installed prior to fitting barkbusters.

Thanks for the help everyone
