They are a bit Big! I lane split so they wouldn’t suit me. My husband has one though he has it strapped behind the seat on the rack. It’s very roomy and he loves it. we both have racks and standard canvas bags that we bought online from India. Dirt cheap.Thanks.
Those Nelson Rigg paniers are huge!
speaking of sprockets…I just got my Classic back after 4 weeks in the shop getting a new DID chain and sprockets fitted. Yes, you read correctly. Not getting a new engine put in, just chain and sprockets. Short story- 4 weeks ago when I initially picked it up I rode home and the bike vibrated so much it was almost too much to ride. Got home, and the chain was tight like piano wire! Rode it back the next day only to have revealed that on turning the wheel the chain went tight then loose then tight then loose. Grrrr. They couldn’t find the problem so I asked them to just put the wheel back on and back off the chain so when it went tight it wasn’t dangerously ridiculous. Basically I just had to get it out of their workshop because they didn’t know how to fix it. It’s in my shed now and I’m wondering what the hell. I do know the sprockets are NOT egg shaped. Have you (or anyone else on the forum) heard of this issue??N
No husband did not put in a warranty. He got spokes from Motociclo in Sydney and they were wrong. Went back got more they were wrong. A fellow in Cessnock ended up making some himself. I mean really, how hard can it beInteresting about the sprockets 17 or 18. I don’t know, but I’m (mechanic) about to change chain and sprockets as the after 17,000k the chain has simply HAD IT!
I too put an iridium plug in and some new upgraded relays as I had no choice in the matter. It was causing intermittent problems which cost me an arm and a leg ’not to fix’ and it turned out it was a couple of relays. Grrrrrrr
ill get back to you regard sprocket number. Good to hear someone else trying to get the best out of their 500.
Correction to that post about my husbands ‘Nelson Rig’. He has just said that it has holes in I on the hard edges after just one 4 week trip away. So no, can’t give it a positive reviewThey are a bit Big! I lane split so they wouldn’t suit me. My husband has one though he has it strapped behind the seat on the rack. This was pretty common in the bad old days of the 70s and 80s (and probably older). I'd have no faith in a shop that doesn't understand it or know how to adjust your chain to suit. It's not unknown for sprockets to be out of round. I doesn't even have to be the sprocket itself, often the holes are drilled slightly off centre. The only fix is new sprockets but buy. good quality ones.speaking of sprockets…I just got my Classic back after 4 weeks in the shop getting a new DID chain and sprockets fitted. Regarding lane splitting, my mate who put me onto then lane splits on his Himalayan. They look huge in the photo but are still narrower than the handlebars. They are big though which is why I got them. They are a bit Big! I lane split so they wouldn’t suit me. My husband has one though he has it strapped behind the seat on the rack. Thanks ya oldphart. Thanks for the reply. I’m trying to source (another) new sprocket as we speak. Noticed first broken outer rear spokes at about 10000k's, thought I would replace all 20 but Royal Enfield could only supply 16 at the time. Anyway on replacing spokes I noticed when tightening spokes they weren't seating properly in the hub which I believe is why the original were breaking. (2021 Classic 500)N
