DNA Filter and Airbox Cover

I've installed the DNA filter and kept the RE snorkel. I also removed the catalytic converter and installed a Red Rooster exhaust. Now it seems to run a little lean. It pops sometimes when I let off the throttle when shifting gears. I will pull the spark plug to confirm this. I intend to measure to TPS voltage and make an adjustment if needed. There are some good videos on the subject that explain the procedure and what it does to the fuel/air mix. I couldn't find my multi-meter, so I had to order a new one ;)

Ok, so the 2022 Meteor 350 is a little different. Actually, a lot different. I think the throttle body has the TPS integrated into a MAF sensor (maybe?). I'm not exactly sure what I'm seeing, and I don't know if there are any adjustments to be made. I have 1.5K miles on the bike and the spark plug looks almost like new. Just a little white ash on top of the ground prong. I guess it's good to go the way it is. 😜

I found some information in the service manual:

1. Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Integrated with Throttle Body: Electronic Control Unit is integrated with the throttle body and makes a single module. Here, the ECU consists of a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly contained in the plastic housing. The PCB assembly is electrically connected to the following hardware within the throttle body: air intake temperature sensor, air pressure sensor, throttle position sensor and idle flow actuator.

So, I guess it's pretty much hands off. It's going to run the way it was engineered to run. Is there any advantage using an add-on module like the FuelX Lite?

Well, I guess I'm going to find out. I just ordered a FuelX Lite module from HMC 😁 It's hard to find any reviews or product descriptions other than what is already on the PowerTronic web site. One key item in the description mentions how it adjusts for add-ons (such as air filter and/or exhaust). Exactly the add-on modifications I've made with the DNA filter and Rooster exhaust. The image of my sparkplug above shows how lean it is running now. I will take before and after pictures of the plug to compare.

I've got the dna kit, fuel x Pro and an aftermarket silencer on my meatball (daughters name). The bike does the occasional gentle pop on the 6 and 7 settings on the fuel x, which seem to be the optimum setting for my bike. The plug is as new but with only approaching 400 miles I suppose it should be. The bike is certainly better to ride with the mods and pulls better through the range, with no down shifting needed on hills. I am really pleased with the bang for my buck on these items. The bike is just that bit more rideable and the exhaust gives a pleasing rumble that's not too intrusive, baffle is staying in as I have a new born and older people in my little close.
I'm certainly not very technically minded but feel the little mods have made a great bike even better.
Cheers

Your item is now leaving the UK. Planes, trains, and automobiles. My package is on its way :)
To be fair, even in the UK the postal service is currently in disarray and its a lottery when anything arrives. Most of the time it'd be quicker to ride across the country and pick it up in person.🤣
Hope you enjoy your new bits, im sure you will.

Guys,

I installed the DNA filter and airbox cover, and I LOVE IT! While it won't make the Meteor 350 a superbike, it'll wake it up. The bike accelerates better; it has better throttle response; it pulls better in all gears; and, it makes a louder intake roar. With the stock filter and snorkel, my Meteor would barely pull in fifth, especially if I shifted at 40-45 mph. Now? It pulls better in fifth. I'm very happy with my DNA filter and airbox cover... :)

Now, if you install the filter and airbox cover, you need to let the bike idle for a minimum of 10-12 minutes until the bike can reach operating temperature. Why? Because the ECU has to learn the new configuration. The DNA filter and airbox cover will allow more air in to the engine, which will change the mixture, which will be seen at the O2 sensors. If it's cold out, let the bike idle for longer-again, so it reaches operating temperature. DO NOT BLIP OR TWIST THE THROTTLE AT ALL WHILE IDLING THE BIKE AFTER FILTER INSTALL! Once you're done, go for a short 2-3 mile ride, so as to verify that everything is still working all right; if all is well, then go for a longer ride and enjoy the bike!
Hi,
where did you order this? Can you pls share the link?

I swapped my 2022 Classic for the latest 2022 Meteor mainly for the more relaxed riding position being a gentleman of a certain age. The Classic I had fitted a DNA filter along with a Fuel X but leaving the standard “snorkel” in place, yes the bike did appear to run better but I am always sceptical about marginal improvements as there tends to be a considerable amount of placebo effect taking place. Enter the Meteor with Fuel X, DNA filter and inlet ring, Wow, night and day. Much improved over the Classic, engine much more responsive and livelier. Gradient’s which required a down change on the Classic the Meteor just romps up. I would appreciate if anyone knows how this latest model has changed from the previous if they could let me know as the one difference that I have noticed is in the configuration of the catalytic converter.

Would this invalidate the 3yr Warranty, and where do you get them? I've just become a member, having bought a new Meteor on Sat, some I'm still running in, so I don't expect to get one soon!
Yes it would.
You can always swap out to the stock RE filter any time you get the bike serviced.

Slow roads here are 65 mph.
The California Prima Facia speed law is 55mph on undivided roads, subject to driving conditions. I ride on the secondary roads around here, cruising at 60+ mph and still cars pass me  This ain't the frickin freeway jerk! Go back to the Bay Area if you want to do 70mph!

there is a small but definite improvement
I noticed that too when I installed a DNA filter and eliminated the catalytic converter (Red Rooster exhaust system). Still, as you can see from the photo in my previous post, the engine was running very lean. I got even better performance after installing a FuelX Lite module. I have just exceeded 3K miles and will be doing the second oil change and service this weekend. I will post a picture of the spark plug as it is running now, 1K miles since installing the FuelX. I expect to see a difference ;)

The main dealer fitted my aftermarket parts. I asked about warranty and they said we won't tell them if you don't.🤣. Happy days.

Uh, what difference? Here is a picture of the spark plug now after running with the FuelX Lite for a thousand miles. Looks about the same as it did a thousand miles ago  I know it's running better with the FuelX than without, but I was expecting the plug to have a little tan 🌞

SparkPlug_3Kmiles.jpg I checked the valve clearances, and they were right on. 3K service and oil change done!

I finally got the blinking wrench to disappear, I was having a little trouble. Then I noticed that the odometer was reading in kilometers instead of miles (now what ). I found a good video regarding changing the odometer units.
