Does your wife/girlfriend/partner ride with you?

My wife used to love to ride Pillion with me. I bought a Goldwing, for her. But as of the last year or so she said she isn't gonna ride with me any more. We have a Child with a disability and her reasoning is. The last time I took her on a ride for the day she noticed how preoccupied nearly everyone is on their phones while driving. She told me that we riders have never been safe from cages, but it seems now that everyone has a phone in their face and if something ever happened to us, our son could potentially lose both of us and he would have no one. SO I can respect that decision I guess. I even stick to the roads less traveled now days. It's kind of a tough pill to swallow as it was the thing we enjoyed doing together. .

my wife has been on the bike many times but only on the Deauville as the top box is also a back rest .she still wants to come but being now 74 with boat problems I don't want to risk it.

... with boat problems I don't want to risk it.
Boat problems are the worst, I hope she doesn't feel too lost at sea with them

In other news, my Himalayan came with a backrest pad on the top box, and combined with a touring seat, good peg placement etc, my other half has said it makes for the comfiest bike she's been on the back of short of a Triumph Trophy.

Fascinating thread. My first wife absolutely hated and feared motorcycles and gave me tons of grief around my motorcycle. Agreed it's important not to force a partner to be into what you're into, but also--a corollary should be, "don't get between your partner and their passion." I went most of my first marriage bike-less. Second marriage is much happier AND second wife rides my Hunter 350 currently when we go out together. It helps that she has always been into bikes and also rides horses, so has good balance etc. Someone has probably written a dissertation about gender and motorcycles btw.

The missus rides pillion with me when we actually have time to do it on the weekends, and it's a good weather.
I'd rather drive alone, and with her..

Alone because its so much lighter and I can enjoy the bends etc more.
Also having the RE panniers etc on my Himmy, it's a quite snug fit for two, too snug, I feel like I need to sit too forward introducing the family jewels for the fuel tank.. And i'm the fat (not very, but more than should be) one of us, she might be ~half of me.

Together, to have atleast something other that home/property stuff and enjoying the sauna to do together.
But she does feel a bit bored riding pillion. Not seeing properly forward, just the scenaries whizzing by.

Maybe after we get the himmy paid she might get her own licence and bike, maybe, I hope.

I mentioned earlier in the thread about me and my other half's plans for last Thursday bank holiday ... we ended up going down to Mequinenza, the N211 going south-west from there is heaven for sport bikes with lots of gentle curves and good visibility so she got to let loose, and we ended up doing a bit over 400km in all.

Yesterday she said an tearful goodbye to her CBR600RR which has been her baby for the last 7 years, we sold it to an old friend who teaches Moto Gymkhana in Barcelona. After saying she's not going to rush into getting another bike she started looking at whats for sale last night before bed ...

What's she nosing at? Another sport bike?

My wife knows her place. Kitchen, cooking, washing and ironing, cleaning the house, window cleaning, gardening, shopping, She hasn’t got time to ride on my bike. I like to keep her busy so I can go out and enjoy myself!😉

Tomorrow we're off to look at a Voge AC350 - 30hp and 165kg, can cruise at 120kph without breaking a sweat. She specifically wants something that if it gets dropped or scratched she doesn't care, the CBR was factory fresh to look at and she felt nervous leaving it parked in public, never mind using day-to-day.

My wife flat out told me that she does not trust her life to my riding. So she took the motorcycle foundation safety course and bought her own bike…

There is only one photo of her with me in one of my bikes. We were not riding, she only did it for the photo while the bike was on its stand.

In a relationship don't force your partner to like the things that you enjoy yourself.
I must admit however that it took me three marriages to realize that...
By eck, you must love wedding cake.
I always introduce my wife to folk as 'the first Mrs Fatal', it helps keep her on her toes.😁
She used to ride pillion occasionly, but her hip gives her problems nowadays so it's been a good few years. Back in the day she accompanied me on some long european tours, but would often give them a pass as I preferred going with my mates.
I do prefer riding solo anyway.

I had to look that up! :)
Looks like a nice bike! (y)
In my experience in the China Bike World, Loncin is a very reliable and bullet-proof engine builder.

Wife always rode with me in years past . I stopped riding for several years . When I started riding again she didn't feel comfortable riding with me as I'm 76 years old . I didn't pressure her so I bought a Can Am Spider so I can take her with me . I have two "real " motorcycles that I ride 95% of the time but when we ride together or I need to get a few groceries I take the Can Am . I know the Can Am is expensive and in years past I would never had spent that kind of money on a bike but I treat myself knowing at my age although I'm in good health tomorrow is no guarantee . The Can Am really has grown on me. It is so effortless to ride , throttle , handlebars , one foot brake for all 3 wheels and yes It will stop shorter than a car even in a curve no worry about falling off in a panic stop . Yet my motorcycles fill my need for $hits and giggles !

My plan when I can no longer be able to hold a two-wheel bike…

In other news, Mrs Turbo went and looked at the bike but didn't test ride it because it was right in the centre of the city so she wouldn't have got out of 2nd gear ... next weekend we're both going to take it for a spin in a little village closer to home since the owner will be visiting their parents or something (her for ergonomics, me for mechanics).

More news as it happens ...
