Coming home through the village where my mum lives, on the straight alongside the village hall and playing field I pulled out to overtake a cyclist, gave him at least 8ft and only doing about 25mph. Suddenly the cyclist just swung right in front of me, didn't look, no signal, just straight out.
I swerved and then hit the brakes but he still contacted with the back of the bike with enough force to rip the Kappa pannier off the frame. I stayed upright, he hit the deck.
It was a 16 year old boy, no helmet. Obviously I was angry but made sure he was ok then told him to get his parents down there. They arrived, very apologetic and tore a strip off him about no helmet. Anyway, the kid has learned a lesson, dad has ordered and paid for a new pannier which will arrive this week.
Nothing more than a few bruises for him and a hole in his dads wallet, very lucky.
