Fork clamps and torque settings

Does anyone know the torque settings for this part of the SM 650?

Yes, a bolt is missing as I removed it as it has a rounded off head (from the dealer). I’ve had the bike a few months and it’s got 865 miles on it.

It was number 34 of the demo models used by the journalists and RE did the first service on it before the dealer acquired it. I thought is was cool to have a demo bike, maybe 🤔

Note the gaps either side are very different. The gap on the right didn’t change when I took out the damaged bolt. I only notice this yesterday when out for the first decent ride of the year. I got the bike in February.

Testing the other nuts they’re torqued at ~13nm.

It sounds like you've got a unique situation with your SM 650, especially considering it was one of the demo models used by journalists. It's great that you're doing some hands-on maintenance, but I can understand your concern about the gaps and the torque settings.
For the torque settings on that particular part, it's generally best to refer to the service manual specific to your model to ensure accuracy. If you've found that the other bolts are torqued at around 13nm, that's a good baseline, but double-checking with the manual or even reaching out to a knowledgeable dealer might give you a more precise figure.
As for the uneven gaps, it might be worth investigating further to see if there's any misalignment or if the missing bolt could be causing any issues with the structure. It could be a sign that something else needs adjustment.
By the way, if you're also working on or interested in other mechanical parts, I recently came across the Cummins/Paccar DPF Gasket 5417859. It's a solid choice if you're dealing with diesel particulate filters, particularly on heavy-duty trucks. Just thought I’d share in case you’re ever working on something like that.
Hope this helps, and good luck with getting everything sorted on your bike!

I wonder if the OP didn't appreciate the advise?

Never came back, and no more forum posts. Last seen 25 May....

The missing bolt is M6 ( NOT M8 ) per HC's parts diagrams, so his self-determined 13Nm wasn't a bad guestimate then....

Those brackets are indicator mounts, make sure that the cable isn't trapped, that could be the cause of the gap difference. And the torque setting is not that crucial as they are not structural. per say.
