More cables than in the pics, no instructions. Plug and play. Guess I'll see tomorrow.
Pretty self-explanatory to those who have installed one? Any words of wisdom?

I did find the instruction manual online and downloaded it, so I'm not completely flying blind. They do mention the two different pigtails, but mine came in a "Y" so I have both. Not sure what to do with the one I won't need. They mention nothing of taping or plugging together.
There's lots of vids out there on the Fuel-X Pro but not much on the Lite. I'll do a full report for those who may be interested in install and butt-dyno results......

They are covering their Asses due to model changes in those years, you have Both variations there. Only one is used presumably one colour.
You will get an improvement, it works!

I would be inclined to plug the other set together.

AH HAH! Did more reading.....
Regarding the unused connectors on the pigtail:

"Leave the Type 2 connectors unplugged and tag them securely. You can connect the type two connector male and female to each other as well."

Seems it makes no difference. I'll probably connect them just to keep dirt and moisture out.

Got 'er dun today, along with a center stand.

Install was straightforward. Just took some thought on cable routing. I wanted to mount the unit back where the tool kit normally lives. This required loosening the two 10mm bolts to get the units connector under the frame. Easy enough.

I ended up snipping some of the factory zip ties, starting at the O2 sensor, and routed the pigtail out the left side of the bike to follow the stock harness. Then I clicked together the unneeded connectors and stashing them under the tank. 472 zip ties and routing changes later, the length of the harness ended up being perfect. I did wrap the excess ground wire around the harness and taped it so it wasn't flopping loose under the seat. Then I mounted the the unit with sticky-backed velcro to hold it in place.

Results: More power? I doubt it, but the power is "better" across the entire curve. The exhaust (PoweRage) also sounds deeper. The power feels deeper, maybe a little more torque? Strictly butt-dyno. Yes, it did help after mid-range and stretched it out a bit more. It's like if I re-jetted a carb and fattened it up a bit. I can see where the Pro version would leave you more options, until you get it set where you want, then probably never touch the handlebar switch again..

Also, no improvement in the rattle at certain RPM's. I was really hoping richening it up may help, but no. Would I buy it again? Yep....

Thank you for the link to the thread... Install looks simple enough.

A few comments and questions:

1. So the tank needs to come out... to route the connectors/wiring to the oxygen sensor on the front.
2. Did you tried installing the box in the rear box that is empty? The one that is just behind the battery and before the pillion? Or you did not tried to place it there? Or tried and it did not fit. I would have thought, if it fits, that it would be a perfect place to keep it somewhat protected from the elements.

It will be a few weeks before mine arrives. But this gave me a clear idea of what is involved. Thank you again for the thread and photos.

1- Yep, tank needed to come off, at least for my OCD. I'm a psycho about wire routing and wanted an open pallet to work on. I've hand-built entire harnesses for HD's in the past and always hated it when someone would spend thousands on paint and chrome....but then the wiring would look like someone threw hay at the bike.

2- Nah. I wanted it to live back where the tool kit used to be so it's easily accessible. I don't ride far enough anymore to warrant needing a plethora of tools and other emergency items, and that spot looked perfect. Water here is a premium, and even washing the bike, the seat should keep it dry. I don't use a pressure washer on my bikes. Mud is something that doesn't exist 9 months out of the year. I also can't help but think that Fuel-X made these things quite water/dirt resistant.

Thanks. I have been known to carry a few things when traveling :ROFLMAO: … another reason for wanting to see if I could fit it in that hidden box…

Funny side comment… I took out the factory toolkit when working on the bike and can’t seem to find it now . Hoping that I left it at the other house…

Probably Gremlins. They are always borrowing my tools and putting them back in a different place :)

As you get older this will not seem so unusual  DAMHIK
In advance of Finding your Tool Kit you may wish to purchase some Locater Devices and remember to fit one to it when located 😁

That's why I have Mrs. 2LZ. She was born with a UTD. (Uterine Tracking Device). Works every time just to make me look like an idiot.

I ended up pulling the top of the "document carrier" off, putting the insurance and registration under the toolkit, and installing the FXL in the bottom tray of the document carrier. Either way works fine, I'm sure.
