The Hitchcock's racks arrived to replace the defective Royal Rider eBay racks and what a massive difference there is. They're worth every extra cent if for nothing else than ease of installation.
The Hitchcock's racks look like they were welded by a professional; the Royal Rider racks looked like a middle schooler's first welding attempt in shop class before being gently told by the teacher that, perhaps, marching band would would be a better fit.
The knock-off bags also fit the Hitchcock's racks properly. The back sleeve slides completely over the rack unhindered by the cross bars and the velcro is also not impeded like on the eBay racks. The straps on the side of the bags slide through the rack bars exactly where they should and can be properly and safely secured without stressing, unlike with the eBay racks.
The construction of the bags seem fine but that's a "time will tell" thing. I really like that they can be easily removed and taken inside one's hotel room when road tripping.
All in all I'm quite happy knowing I purchased a quality piece of kit. I have no second thoughts about paying the extra money. I can see exactly what that extra cash bought me. There is no equal comparison to be made with the Royal Rider racks, the Hitchcock's racks are superior in every way.
Aesthetically, the Desert Storm colorway bags look great with the Desert Sand paint job of the signals. It's a small thing but I think it makes a difference. The bags pretty much perfectly match the "Signals" logo on the side covers and the insignia on the right side of the tank, accentuating both. I thought about adding a luggage rack above the fender but covering up the exposed fender really ruins the look and is, for me, a bridge too far.
