Hi I am Lou a new member we have just bought a new shotgun 650 👏🏻 but are having issues getting insurance sorted as the bike is so newly registered but also many insurers don’t recognise the model yet. Has anyone else had this problem? and can anyone recommend an insurer? Thank you and safe riding everyone x

Insurance underwriters can generate a rate quote once they have the needed info.

My advice is get as much spec info as possible from factory sources to your agent right away.

Are you using comparison sites in which case a direct approach to individual company may be better.
I & others I ride with are getting favourable quotes with Hastings at present (but we are old farts) otherwise try Bennetts as a large/established broker

Be patient remember the clone on the phone has to read off of a scripted screen as thinking outside the box isn't allowed

Yes I'm in UK, I bought a new Shotgun in April and only Lexham would insure it. All the comparison site came back with no quotes.

I've just insured my yet to be collected Shotgun in the UK. I was surprised that every colour scheme has a separate designation or level. Mine being grey is designated as the base model. Just seems strange considering we're only talking differences of a few hundred pounds. My only real problem was the reg number having not been registered with DVLA, didn't allow the insurance company to find the motorcycle on the database. When I actually communicated with a human and gave the number, they put the quoted cost up. They actually couldn't give a reasonable explanation for this. It eventually cost me £260 fully comp because all my no claims bonus is on another motorcycle I own.

Hi,
I had the problem of not being able to insure my bike in May 2024 when new, every site but for one didn't recognise the model. The only one that did was Lexham and they wanted £250.00 and I was swapping from a year old Interceptor which was around £140.00.
The fun starts when you want parts. I was on way way for the 1st. service, just pulling away from an island and the idiot that had been sat behind me rammed me damaging everything attached to the rear mudguard. The only parts available where ones that where used on other models and they took 2 weeks to arrive and that was from RE HQ which is only 40 miles away from my dealer the mudguard number plate attachment plastic part took 3 months.
So I had a 5 month old bike that I had only ridden for 5 weeks missing all of the summer.
I've had RE since 2010. When I had repaired it it got sold.
RE will no longer see any more of my money.
RE customer service 0/10.

Yes, I suppose a separate issue and one you don't appreciate at purchase. With all the bikes sharing so many parts, you wouldn't expect parts shortages. However, I suspect production is so focused, they haven't allowed for spare parts requirements. Parts shortages seem to hit all manufacturers at some point.
