Seeing that title just makes me feel soooooo young again! 
Actually, I have commented to some friends that going from my big bikes of the past to the Meteor now is like revisiting those halcyon days of my youth on my little Hondas of the day!

At 19 I went to the local Kawasaki dealer to get a 500 triple. At the Dealers insistance I went home with a 125 and rode it to death. Never did get a widow maker.

I started riding on scooters. Followed by a tiny Kawasaki. Years later I was working in bike shops selling parts and accessories to college kids, who often had a CBR600 as a first bike. The first thing they wanted was a loud pipe. The second thing was (often) an insurance estimate.
Most of my bikes have been 650s or smaller. Only one bike had more than two cylinders. The two I owned longer than the rest were 500 thumpers.
A 350 J model is elemental motorcycling. That's a good thing. If it had an extra 10hp, it could be my only bike.

Half a BAR of boost and getting rid of the limiter make the J model of your choice perfect as an all around bike, but it's not as easy to do on these things as on my old 80s VWs.
Who am I kidding, I'd give it a full BAR and be running with the 650s simply because I could and then just keep a close eye on exhaust temps.

I started out pretty typical, I suppose, with a '78 KZ440 that handed the front range traffic of the 90s just fine. Then came the GS550L that I absolutely beat to death, including 12+ hour days at full throttle crossing the country via the interstate, and it still wouldn't stop. The Anvil I called it, hammer on that bike all day long. But those long days at the limit made me realize I needed something bigger.
Many years later here I am, wishing I had the Anvil back. So I look around for anything 'small' from the 70s or early 80s that is not a pristine classic, absolute junkpile, cut up, no title, or outrageously priced and I come up more or less dry for about 5 years of casual inquiry. Everyone's telling me if I want a small bike just get a used Ninja, they're all over and cheap. And I hate everything about them.
Then I find a brand new bike that fits the bill called the Classic. I think it took all of about 15 minutes on the RE website before I knew what chassis, what color, and what my first half dozen or so mods were going to be.
Once I rode one I knew that it was the Anvil's little (and younger) brother, only with more grunt so it's even easier to ride.
Meanwhile my wife is a beginner and wants to graduate from the Vespa 150. Took her into the RE dealership while I was waiting 5 months for the exact bike I wanted to come in and then she sat on a Meteor. A Fireball in red was just about a done deal by the time she got off of it.

New rider in 2020. I took the safety course on their 250. Bought an '05 Honda Shadow 750. It wasn't anything I wanted (carbs, chain, etc.), but it was available (2020 was tough to find bikes), super clean/original, priced right, 15 minutes away, comfortable, etc. Really enjoyed it, what little I rode it. I just wanted something smaller, easier to maneuver out of the garage, top of my driveway, etc. If I had the room, I'd have kept the Shadow for post retirement, when I have time to tinker with carbs, etc. For now, I want to turn the key and go.
I sat on every bike I could, rode a Vulcan 900 as well, but after a year wait, my Meteor Stellar Blue will will be here Friday. It just fits perfect and I'm wondering if it leads to a Super Meteor, but one bike at a time...for now.
