My Mods Thread - Royal Enfield Himalayan

Nice!! I rarely venture to that side of town. Sure do miss the clam chowder on a cold day. For us seafood is always best when on the road, so I almost never go down to the piers. We usually hit Fish in Sausalito (great lunchtime spot). Or cruise out to Half Moon Bay by the docks.

Here in the Mission there’s just about any type of cuisine you could name, but not good seafood.

Are you staying near North Beach or downtown?

Staying at the Marriott in San Mateo…

Love eating in Sausalito!!

Funny story, first time in San Francisco, we drive to Half Moon Bay… a restaurant by the water…. Locals tell me to try the water (me being from the Caribbean I am like “great!!”)…. SOAG! It was cold as ice!!

Carb is simple, but "never quite done". I just went through this on my DRZ, converting from a BSR36 CV carb, the the FCR39 flat slide racing carb. Literally a couple months of testing and jetting with an FCR Guru in England, via Thumpertalk. The bike runs like a scalded cat now, but it's not perfect. Frustrasting. There's something to be said about hit the key, let the ECM do its thing. I'm not looking for max performance out of my Interceptor or Scram, like I was my DRZ. I did big bore kit, stage two cams, FCR carb, full exhaust and breather. It's an animal now....and a touch finicky. I just want the RE's to be their full potential, under their current conditions.
My carb conversion has been on for almost a year and I haven't touched it once and its not stalled a single time. The spark plug is chocolate brown and the bike has way more power everywhere in the powerband. If I had a 2022 that the ECU flash didn't fix Id do the carb swap again in a heart beat. :)

Finally started modding out the bike. Thought I'd share.

Top of the line, Chinese made, plastic amazon phone holder, voltmeter, and phone charger. Really pricey stuff here, might have set me back thirty bucks out the door.

Custom designed sticker. Adds at least a horse or two I'd imagine.

Can't wait to hear about your fuel-x experience!

Did you end up doing more for temperature control around the air filter or sticked to your temporary solution for now?
Had 52°+C readings on the below seat dashboard temp sensor recently in the canyon so I kept adding minor breather breaks whenever I found some shadow ..

No riding nor working on the bike… helping my wife with her Dad… Doctors just finished removing most of a cancerous tumor from his leg…. Life has a funny way of throwing curves balls at you…

Thank you for the kind words. At this point we are just trying to get as much time as we can.

He has been living with us for the past 21 years…

They could not remove all the cancer, some was left behind to save the leg (per his request). We will take it day by day and enjoy every day we have him.

A wise lady once told me "it's not how many days that you have, it's how many days you have with smiles in that counts".
So treat every day you have together as a gift, make memories, have fun, don't forget to smile.

Does anyone have an accurate wiring diagram of the 2023 Himalayan scram headlight wires? I’m trying to figure out the main beam and high beam wires to connect a relay for my auxiliary lights that I’ve just fitted. I was going to trigger the relay with the main beam and connect the power feed from the high beam so the auxiliary lights come on with the high beam only. The auxiliary lights are led lights mounted on the front forks with RE brackets on the front mudgard/fork brace bracket's, they look the part if I can just wire them up correctly.

I think it's good you went with the Enfield LED headlight, mine (stock headlight) came with an LED bulb but it's all over the place, prolly spotted by UFO's, needs to go, good job i dont generally ride at night.. have you been able to check if it throws the light around legalish requirements.

No more adjustment on my headlight either as it's hitting the frame, must try again with a 55w.
Try this one if you haven't already... fantastic and do project - 1701697823211.pngso no blinding others (as long as installed correctly)

I headed out at 10 am...and got back home around 3 pm.

I thought I had hit save/submit on the previous post... oh well... I took a lot of water and some snacks... it is hot as heck today...

And made it to the OHV...

I quickly learned that I am not ready to tackle deep sand trails... the sand was very soft, deep, the trails very narrow... I almost could not make it out of the parking lot!:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Forget this crap... I will try again another day... I need to leave the panniers at home and take only the minimal amount of stuff (lots of water, first aid kit, and snacks bars)... and a frigging shovel!

I kid you not... this was me in the parking lot just before entering the trail!! I was so confident in the parking lot until this happened... I then walked part of the trail and that is when I decided to not even try it...

Not the correct tires for sure... and the bike needs to be narrow, so the panniers need to stay home.

Lifting the bike was a shore since it was higher than where I could place my feet... so I struggled more than usual... I am not proud, but there was no way I was going to make it through the trail today...and alone…

I hope I got my fall on video... let me check and I will share. It was soft sand so nothing broke, bent or got scratched... only my pride was bent out of shape
I learned the same lesson last week but on the North side (entry at Rodman Dam). Didn't put it down but only went a half mile or so before turning around. Haven't felt that uncomfortable on a bike in 30 years! Next time I'll need to be more prepared with water and a riding partner I'm thinking, but this type of riding needs a lot of practice - steady throttle no matter how unstable it seems. Makes gravel, rocks and hills seem very easy!
