My View on the Interceptor

Don’t know if anybody already said this, but there is a (two actually) small yellow sticker in the bottom part of the clocks that cover a hole in them. Remove the stickers and bum, no more fogging.

I don’t even look at the fuel gage, trip A for fuel (200km for one tank more or less, 230/240 and the reserve light comes in the clock) trip B for chain cleaning/greasing. But I agree that I stop to fuel more than I would want, coming from a 125 with 20l tank.

I’m in the process to change the headlight for a LED one, will come back with the results if I’m able to. Stock bulb it’s pretty much useless in pitch black conditions.

I’d love to change the indicators for the round ones, as the square ones look like frying pans, but only find them in EBay and they’re pretty expensive for 4 indicators. I agree with the hazard lights thing, it’s a must for security in any modern vehicle.

I went on a full day trip when I first bought the bike, and I wanted to kill myself in the 4 hour ride back home. But after some time my buttocks got used to the seat and now I can do full day of riding no problems. I have to stop to refuel before I get tired of the seat.

Is it difficult to fit the back light? I find the stock one really ugly, the ones in the Boneville’s are the same but smaller and I think they look nice, but this one it’s to bulky. I’d love to put the round ones from the 350 RE’s.

The stock Pirelli Phatom’s were horrible. Anytime I changed lanes and went over a white line I just closed my eyes and prayed. Fitted a pair of BT46’s and man, night and day diference.

The footpegs are ok for me, little bit anoying when moving the bike from a stand still, but no major problems.

The exhaust are huge and makes cleaning the bike and chain a pain in the ass. I also got a nice burn in my left leg when I first got the bike. Would love to fit the 2in1 as it looks slicker and more practical, but it’s to much hassle with MOT (itv in my country) and too much money for me.

The battery on mine it’s the original, still going strong after 4 years
@Alan F. turned me on to Baxter takeoffs. Cheaper than new but like new, definitely cheaper than the exorbitant prices for used on eBay which probably came off insurance wrecks. The shipping may add up but they use USPS so maybe check if you do want to go this route. You'd still have the square brake light, and agree the 350 taillight is better looking, but you would have the round indicators. Baxter are good to deal with.

Unfortunately the shipping to my country alone cost more than the 4 indicators + tail light (60 bucks). I'll keep searching or I'll keep rocking the frying pans for when I fancy some eggs on the road.

Too bad. We get hit by ordering internationally from Hitchcocks but within the U.S., the postal service is reasonable if one can find a part domestically.

I get that, looks are important, but, as someone who uses the rear brake, I'd rather have a flat pad to push on.
yes I agree I do miss the pedal it ocashionley I would prefer a normal flat peddle .have done a lot of looking but you can't get one, the one that comes with the lowered pegs has two of the piece you put your foot on which is better. I have been considering drilling a hole through the pedal and adding another

Put another piece on the brake peddle

it is largely original but the decals are wrong. They should be red/yellow but I think the blue looks better.

It is currently off road as only firing on one cylinder. I suspect a blocked jet in the carb but I am recovering from a hand operation so can’t work on it at present.
Nack in the day I had a 1981 Superdream 400N, was young and foolish, regretted selling it ever since. Now a proud Interceptor owner. Great thread!

I have just started on the carb rebuild. OEM parts are ultra expensive for a 45 years old bike.

I love the Interceptor. When it went for its first MOT, (TVA, ITV?) last year the inspector provided a video of the test which commenced with his statement “I really love these bikes”👍🙂

Does anyone else feel the interceptor´s lean when on the side stand is a bit exaggérated? Anyone tried a longer stand or those plate-like foot attachments I have seen,do they make any difference?

I couldn't stand the lean angle on mine, it got worse when I changed tire sizes, then I went to a 21" front wheel, and I have some longer rear shocks to try out soon too so it may just fall over with the stock side stand. I mostly use the center stand for this reason. But a Himalayan stand is on the way, maybe I can monkey with that and find an easy solution.

The plate-like attachments do help, but not too much. Some have made DIY solutions fastening a hockey puck to the foot of the stock stand. And Hitchcock's in the UK has an adjustable length stand available that seems to fit their standards of quality, but it's pricey.

It was ridiculous, same on Pyle (Classic 350). My machinist neighbor made me this to attach to the duck foot.
