Neutral select

Hi
I am proud owner of a 2020 Himalayan.
Anybody had neutral select difficulties?
Finding it annoying to get from 1st to neutral, always seems to jump straight into 2nd. Do I need to adjust the clutch cable?
Congratulations and Welcome to Himmy Family.

Its natural to have this on a new bike, Over time either of two things will happen, your clutch will get adjusted and you can select neutral more easily or you will get used to it. Either way its a win-win. ;)

....always, even after 24,000km. Clutch adjusted to correct and indispensible free play. I've never had a mbike that was easy. If I stop in second, I whack it down into first and then gently lever it up into neutral. That usually works best. The Himmie is my best bike after having had 2 x BSA Bantam, MZ150, ETZ250, SL125, 2 x XL125, XT250, Bonneville T100, CRF250L. I love it, and it gets better with age like a comfy pair of shoes. Happy Trails! EDIT..oops I got first and second transposed there..doh...FIXED

I heard they improved the transmission on the 2021. I have nothing to compare it to as I have only ever ridden a 2021 (both a demo, and the one I just took delivery on today) and I had no issues finding neutral whatsoever. It was a very positive shift out of 1st in the Neutral.

I often have issues getting into neutral - 2600 miles on the clock - and have done since day one. Interestingly, the Missenden Flyer (excellent Youtuber as I'm sure you all know) was test-riding a bike (not RE) recently and when he stopped at the side of the road he said "Let's see how easy it is to find neutral". My guess is that this can be an issue with lots of bikes but the Himalayan (mine at least) seems to be quite problematic in that area. Might ask the dealer about it at the up-coming 3000 mile service (don't trust myself to change the oil let alone carry out all the other service stuff!).

Best way I find is, from first gear knock it gently up into second, then gently back down into neutral. Works pretty much every time and (very!) occasionally, the knock-up goes straight into neutral from first.
