Welcome.
Take a test ride - I didn't but nobody said you had to follow your own advice.
Bought mine after seeing one in supermarket car park, not ridden for 40 years, just had to happen. For me it wasn't a need to slowdown, rather a need to be more connected with the outside world and to be on my own. Have driven long distances in cars that totally insulate you from the outside world, the Land Rover doesn't give a monkeys about the road condition, be it rutted, frozen or covered in mud. you are at a constant 22C cocooned. The Himmy will forgive bad roads, but like any bike you need to be aware of the surroundings, she's not a pocket rocket that is going to spit you off if you grab a ham fisted amount of throttle exiting a bend. She's not going to stand on her nose if you are likewise ham fisted with the brakes - but stops well enough from 70mph, accelerates better than most cars away from a junction.
So quick enough for modern traffic, really involving (fun) to ride, parts are cheap, servicing is even cheaper, and just think of all the fun you can have deciding just what extras you can buy with the money you saved not buying a bike for twice the money.
Mines a E4, as I got more for the money, it just works, get her out of the garage, starts fist time, fit panniers and ride off down the road for a couple of hours, grab a bag of chips (fries) and ride home - cobwebs gone.
