Dumb question I am sure but there is a ferry?Eastern end of Long Island jumping in here to say hello. Jumped on the ferry to New London CT this fall and day tripped around the NE corner of CT. Great rides- and I was grateful for some curves and hills as its pretty plat out here!
Not dumb- There are two ferry ports connecting Long Island to Connecticut. One goes between Port Jefferson (NY) and Bridgeport, CT. The one near me goes from Orient (NY) to New London (CT) and makes for a great launching point to New England without having to go through NYC or worse- the Long Island Expressway.Dumb question I am sure but there is a ferry?
Gosh. In my 20 hours of hindsight, a ferry makes perfect sense. I lived in Brooklyn for years but never ventured much further on Long Island. Never had a vehicle. The ferries open up loads of possibilities. I am never going to ride across the Triborough Bridge. Yeah, I am up to meet. I hope to meet up with a few folks in the warmer weather. Thanks for the video. I would have been worried about my bike falling over but seemed fine that day. Enjoy! Not dumb- There are two ferry ports connecting Long Island to Connecticut. And of course if you want to check out Long Island- especially the east end with access to iconic places like Montauk- you could come across from CT and either day trip or hotel/motel or camp!
I've used it extensively via the jeep for trips, but finally went for a moto day trip this fall: Himalayan Ride to CT via Ferry

Already looking forward to some New England and Upstate rides in 2023. Would love to meet some folks.
LIC/Queens here! Just brought this home on Tuesday.Don't know how many of you are here, but let yourself be heard (And seen). Took this pic early this morning.
All of a sudden going out on the boat fishing all day isn't as fun as it used to be, post-Enfield .
I think Mr Roosevelt would have approved

Hey Woodstock! Reading your post RE Long Island. I'm chuckling because I take the Tribe every time I ride up to Woodstock either in the car or on the bikeGosh. I never liked driving in NYC in rentals so all I can say is more power to you if you are on board to ride out of NYC. Let me know your movements. I do think about the ferry. At the moment it is serious firewood processing and I have not been on the Interceptor for a week or so but I am about done for 2023. How do you feel about Laconia? A few of us are there mid-week the week of June 12.Hey Woodstock! Reading your post RE Long Island. I'm chuckling because I take the Tribe every time I ride up to Woodstock either in the car or on the bikeThere's also the Whitestone for you as well. I will usually make the trip up there in 2 hours door to door ( Bread Alone on Tinker) Stop for late breakfast and coffee and rest. Then tool around Catsills for a few hours, Stop @ Devils Tombstone for another short rest by the pond or mini hike up either side, then up to 23A, scoot back towards the river, and then down either Plathe Cove Road or all the way to Saugerties, Down to 9W and across the RB Bridge to the Taconic back to NYC. It's a good day trip but fun. You could do the Reverse. Get to the Taconic, then figure out the best route east to either CT Ferry. Anyway, ping me. Next time I head up to Woodstock maybe meet up for coffee and joyride around your neighborhood. Cheers!
