That is a good question. I see that Hitchcock's sells an oil filter socket tool:

PART No. 90299
OIL FILTER WRENCH, 3/8'' DRIVE 650 Interceptor + 650 Continental GT

The smallest filter sockets I've seen are 65/67mm with 14 points. Measure the width between the flats, across the center of the filter.

Does Hitchcock's sell in the U.S.? I just ordered couple of filters the other day. that will get me pretty close. Amazon has cheap sets of those 3/8 drive sockets with multiple sizes

But to answer your question… just take the filter with you to a local auto parts and get the filter wrench there…They have them in different sizes.

That is what I have done for the other bikes and cars…. Because, as you all know, the one that you need is never in your toolbox 🤣

I got lucky with this bike that I had that old filter wrench…

Been there, done that ;-) Harsh but effective on those really baked on filters.
They put those filters on ridiculous tight at the factory. I don't know what they use. Maybe a heavy duty impact wrench? I had a helluva time getting it loose when I did my first oil change. I thought of trying the screwdriver method but I was afraid I'd just end up with a mangled filter that was still stuck on. So I took a stainless steel hose clamp and put that around the base of the filter and tightened it as hard as I could. Then I took a screw driver and put the end of it in the slot of the clamp's screw and pounded on it in a counter clockwise direction with a 3 lbs drilling hammer. I finally got it to budge just a tiny bit at a time until it was finally loose enough to take off by hand. Then after I changed the oil I put the new filter on hand tight which is all you need to do. It never leaked a drop and it was easy to get off when I did my next oil change.

I bit the bullet and bought a filter wrench from Hitchcocks. I had other items to order so it was just an add-on. I will still look around for a strap though. As a kid, that is all we ever used. And I don't ever remember being defeated by a filter.

When I had the problem with a hard to reach filter on a car the parts guy suggested a ABW three legged puller.
Bring it back for a full refund if it doesnt work!
The legs are geared so the harder you turned the harder they dug into the filter, and he was right, it worked.
Fitted every other filter I have used it on too, so price ended up OK too.

When I was having all that trouble getting the filter off on my first oil change I bought this one.

It's not three legged but it works the same in that in keeps digging in to the filter the harder you try to turn it. The problem was it just kept digging and crushing the filter without turning it and I was afraid I'd end up with a crushed filter that was still stuck on. That's why I went with the hose clamp around the base. Now that I'm only hand tightening the new filters they come off with no problem.

Oil filter O-rings swell when they get oil soaked. Every one of the thousand plus filters I've installed hand tight needed a filter wrench to remove at next oil change.
If they were a beotch to remove I suspect someone snugged it up with a wrench on install not knowing that O ring was gonna swell.

It might be advisable to have a helper sitting on the bike while breaking the filter loose.
I wouldn't want to rock the bike off the stand down on top of me.
When working on the bike I usually steady it with a couple of rachet straps down from the roof beams as I usually work alone.
Some pro shops have a mobile A frame gantry and do the same , dropping a big bike can be a $2000 - mistake!
