Powerage exhaust,.. anyone fitted one ?

What a cracking Sunday evening 🌞

As per thread title, has anyone fitted a Powerage exhaust to their Bear yet ? I think they look very close to the original silencer.

Coupled with a DNA air filter and cover is there a gain in power ? Smoother running ? Improved throttle response ?

Any info / advice / pointers would be gratefully received.

I have fitted the Powerage silencers (short) to my Interceptor 650 - not the Bear. And also DNA filter and cover. I did not notice any change in power or throttle response, nothing.
The sound is nice, it is lighter, it looks better (in my opinion) and it does not get nearly as hot as the original.
That was important for me because of the larger bags I wanted to fit for travelling.
I am happy with the purchase of the silencers. The DNA filter + cover, for the price, I would not buy them again.

Thanks for your reply Sir much appreciated, I must say I do like the look and if I could get a deeper note I'd be happy.
 
I have the PoweRage units on my Interceptor. Love them. Have the DNA setup also. Never really noticed any appreciative power differences, but i did notice more low-to-mid range when I installed the Fuel-X Lite. Less downshifting on steep uphills. Just my experience at 3000 feet elevation and above.

Hi,
I've just fitted a DNA filter and cover on my bear and also was looking at the powerage exhaust as well as the mistral exhaust they make here in Italy. Have to decide yet..
For the filter feel a quicker response on the throttle as well as a bit more sound coming from the air box.

Many thanks, I'll have to have a look at the Minstrel exhaust, I've not heard of that one.

Some more information on the exhaust pipe with the Euro 5 + bijes from January 2025, sold in Europe,the cat has a third lambda sensor that's Euro 5 bikes sold till December 2024 haven't got, so the powerage exhaust haven't got this sensor on the exhausts and the mistral are implementing it in the next weeks.

I have a 2022 GT650 that I just bought pre-reg through a dealer...fitted the Powerage shorties yesterday and took a ride (I also have the DNA filter and plate). Nice sound with the baffles out, not over the top that you get annoyed, nice burble on down change occasionally.

Super easy to fit and look great in polished with the standard headers, very happy.

Here's a new thought....

If I kept the original silencer but removed the CAT and replaced it with just a link pipe.....what effect would that have ?
Would it Free up gas flow and deepen the exhaust note ?

I "guess" I still have the cats in my Interceptor? I always thought the cats were in a massive stock cans but I hear they're in the header pipe. I've noticed no lack of performance because of them. I may change the header pipes someday just to see.....but i simply love how it runs now and would hate to blow a bunch of $$$ on something that may change that. :unsure:

The CAT on the Bear is below the engine, where the center stand mounting would be however I'm wondering if removing it would improve free flow and exhaust note.
 
I replaced my stock cans with AEW 102 silencers mostly to reduce weight and size and saw some improvement in response and a nicer tone but replacing my headers with less restrictive Hitchcocks SS pipes made a huge change ,much smoother power delivery and torque.
 
I fitted Powerage pipes and then, a year later, Stratos pipes. Can't say I've noticed a performance difference - but the weight difference is significant. Sounds lots nicer too.

CAT's are both in the headers and the std exhaust silencers on the Inty (at least it is on my Euro 5?).

Yah, I don't ride hard anymore so I doubt the cat in the head pipe is hampering anything. My biggest fear would be swapping it out and changing the sound. I LOVE how my Interceptor sounds with the PoweRage mufflers on it. As I've said in prior threads, almost "ear sex". ;)

Interesting question. While header pipes, of the same diameter, without the cat would increase the gas velocity ... I don't think it will change the sound in any meaningful way. The exhaust gases and the sound waves are two separate things _ even though they travel together in the same tube system. The sound is basically controlled by the number of diversions and the shape and volume of the muffler. Think of it like a sound box on a guitar.
