"Pyle!".....as in Gomer

Haha, reminds me of every other time I make the ride to Auburn, I stop at Carol's Deli in Newcastle. It's a small market/deli near I-80 & SR193 that's frequented by many folks passing through with their toys.

Over the last 10 years I've seen everything from restored vintage bikes to modified outlaw Harleys to restored Karmann-Ghias and modified Porsche 911s there. Folks are often curious about "Toto", she looks a bit different than others. Always got to inform them that Royal Enfield is the oldest continuous manufacturer of motorcycles in the world and that the Himalayan was the first model motorcycle to visit the South Pole 🤓

Yes, I takes my credits vicariously sometimes (and so should you when it comes to 2 wheels!) 😄

Well acquainted with that area! Grew up in Loomis, Del Oro graduate, class of 77! That was back when Loomis (Taylor Rd) only had one stop light and fruit sheds. We worked the fruit packing sheds every summer during the high school years. Now the sheds are yuppy shopping malls and Taylor Rd is mobbed.

Holy cow..... When I first brought Pyle home, our dealer always fills every tank before letting it go. A nice little bonus, for sure! All three RE's have been brimmed when I bought them. I thought, "I need to check the valves on Pyle when I get the chance. I'll burn off the tank of gas before though. Make the tank lighter."
How the hell long does it take to burn off a tank of gas on these J models!? o_O
I haven't been tracking mileage, but I've had it out numerous times now and it's only dropped to the second bar! I'm not complaining but It could take me a month to get to the valves!

Gotta love low-stress engines...if yall hang out around when they produce just enough torque to get ya by, they reward you with fuel-sipping that would make a Geo Metro or Jetta TDI hyper-miler proud 😁

My worst was 50 something mpg right after I got it. Runs 72 to 78 now, with 4,000 miles on it. Best was 86 mpg, kept the receipt on that one. Changed to Premium (no ethanol) since then, ought to check again. Still box stock, suits me ok. Amazing little engines...

Being that the end of my driveway is a busy 45mph road where people generally do 55-60, I seldom ride my Classic in its proper speed range. Usually 50-70mph, full throttle as much as I can because it's fun, cheapest fuel available because I know how the pumps work around here and don't feel like paying for 2 gallons of premium when I only get 1 of the good stuff mixed with another ~gallon of whatever's still in the hoses. I get 65 mpg without fail, usually closer to 68. I think it's the worst these bikes can do.

The Meaty'ore drinks Ethanol Free, is ridden more carefully, more 40-50mph riding than 50-70mph, and it gets 70+ mpg even when it's me twisting the throttle instead of the wife.

Those little freaking C-clips on the underneath side of the peg pivots became an impossible task, even with the correct c-clip pliers, little screwdrivers, etc...

Not the easiest things to get at, are they? Tiny black circlips against black paint in shade/shadow. Grrrrr... 👺 Probably best to wait 'til it's dark (or switch off your workshop lights) and light the area from beneath only.

I've had these pegs on my Meteor for a while now, and find them very comfortable. My feet feel more securely placed and I've had no issues with using the brake or gearshift. Possibly not the best for heel & toe shifting, but as I have the lever adjusted up by a couple of splines on the gearbox shaft and use it for toe shifting only it's been just fine...

Man! What a cool bike the 350's are. Nice bike and work on Pyle, 2LZ. I feel ya on that whole HP thing. That's all I heard too when I was kicking around the idea of buying a Himalayan, glad I did, the power is so useable. That's how the bike got its name, it will lumber around in the woods like an ole pack Donkey. I very much enjoy your ride and build pics. Oh how I miss Northern Cali. When Stationed at Travis AFB, I spent a lot of time fishing and riding up in them thar hills. SO beautiful.

Just good to have you back, letsride!
Pyle has been fun but it's always fun working on a clean bike.
Yes, everyone across the planet has a real bad view of CA because of only certain parts of the state get all the press. Nor Cal is an entirely different world. Rural, agricultural, outdoorsy......and of courser, it's the weather. ;)
I simply let everyone tell me how bad I have it living here.

Well, decor-wise for the Military Tribute Build, I believe Pyle is complete. Anyone have any other ideas, toss them out there.(y)

Got the scabbard mounted today. I was really torn on how to mount it. I didn't want to use anything with metal buckles (possible scratches) or zip ties. Found this fancy Velcro belt material. Has both loops and hooks on one side. Worked perfectly! Here's the link for anyone interested.

Got the toy rifle mounted inside a PVC pipe to hold it centered. Pulls right out, pipe stays in the scabbard, unseen. Got the toy rifle off of Etsy. They did a custom wood burn in it for me to match Pyle.

That bike is a Show Stopper for sure, no kidding! I don't have any suggestions, I don't think there is any, haha. Where did you get that scabbard (or did I miss the post)? I want one to mount on the Himmy, but it needs to be a little shorter, I wanna put a 590 Shockwave in it for trail rides. And mainly for doing the SCAR. Oh and what model is that Bike exactly? Does RE not offer it any more?

Hey letsride! It's a 2023 Classic 350 Signals Edition. They now make one with both mixed colors. Desert Sand and Marsh Grey (green) like Pyle.
Mrs. 2LZ collects WWII weaponry and other items. Her dad had this one. It has been cut down by a couple inches which made it fit perfectly.

Those scabbards are pretty easy to stitch up from a side of hide. Any local leather worker should be able to whip one up for you in short time for not much money.

Get some posterboard or flexible cardboard and mock one up to be what you're looking for (hot glue, coffee can lids, soup cans, use anything to get the right shapes and sizes for your needs. Then find someone to do that in a durable material and you're golden. If you really can't find someone to stitch some leather for you, let me know. I was just up in Richmond this weekend and saw a half hide on a friend's shelf that I'm pretty sure they'd let me buy off of them cheap since it has been untouched for at least the past two years.

Well.....My Military Tribute bike build (Pyle) is done. Well, they're never "done done", but I've reached a point of completion, for now. (y)
I was inspired to build this as an homage to my dad and brother. Hence the initials added to the rear fender. I cheated with stickers instead of stencil/paint. I'm just not real good at that kind of stuff anymore.
Enjoy the pics! (y):D
