Just did these on my bike check out tiger ness on you tube for a workaround to removing rear fender to install which is insane.FYI the lower brackets that receive the bottom of the spring are directional meaning that they should be installed in such a manner that the threaded part that accepts the spring is in its most downward position.if you have it in hand you will see what I’m talking about they don’t come with any direction.once installed they looked the business .

I used a variation on Tiger Ness's method. Using the lower bolts makes life overly difficult but by using TN's method the seat comes off easily. Coastrider did a similar job but also slotted the rear seat mounts so the bolt didn't need to be pulled, just loosened. Since it is a seat mount and the force is downwards this is not a dangerous mod in my opinion. I'll probably do it to my own 350 when I refit the touring seat after I've fitted the touring bars.

Putting the whole seat/spring/bracket together the first time was a major pain. I've since removed the seat once to adjust the valve clearance. To remove the seat: I remove the two bolts that hold the brackets to the frame. (I used hex head bolts so I can fish them out with a ratcheting box wrench.) The springs will then bend enough to pull the seat and brackets as one piece. Putting a cloth over the fender to avoid scratches is a good idea.
