Retro goggles

My new goggles. There a several companies making this style of googles, priced from ridiculously cheap to very expensive. These are (were?) made by Leon Jeantet. They are the originals and possibly the best.

One seller listed them as discontinued. Most of the retailers that list them have them on backorder. I got these from Yesteryears USA on eBay, for $99, which made them a little cheaper than the other premium brand, Bertoni. If some of their reviews are accurate, I think these have the better leather (and definitely the classier strap).

I replaced the clear lens with the optional tinted lens (which look mirrored to me) for added coolness.

Bottom line, the originals may be disappearing. If you want a pair, Yesteryears still has a good selection for a decent price. But none left in black.

A flat cap is the proper headgear for a forties thumper.

I've been looking through stacks of old Motorcycle Classics magazines. The Leon Jeantet Aviators were featured in a number of the Davida (retro helmet) ads. They just looked so darn cool I had to have some.

I'll always liked the vintage aviator styled goggles over the newer (motocross) type. I wore split lens goggles back when I still wore contacts (when they still had glass lens). I even had an pair of original WWII fighter pilot goggles, with the tear drop lens and thick foam frame. But dropped them and broke a lens.

I could get away with wearing split lens goggles now that I've had cataract surgery, but I can see better long distance if I wear glasses. The Leon Jeantet's will fit over glasses. But they are too big to look right without a helmet.

LOL! I won't be wearing my glasses for display purposes, because since my cataract surgery, my glasses are strictly for long distance, as well. Isn't getting old wonderful? :ROFLMAO:

Uh Oh. Looks like Yesteryears raised their price to $115. I probably shouldn't have mentioned to them how much more their competitors were charging for the same goggles. Still a good price. In an 18 year old magazine I was recently looking at, they were listed at $135.
