Ride planned to my fav riding destination in India

Got some leave time coming up and am prepping the bike for a solo ride to the state of Rajasthan. This state has the best roads in India along with great heritage and food.
It also has friends and great angling for my favourite game fish - the Snakehead!

I plan to leave around November 9-10 and make a 10 day trip. Weather is likely to be the best in that state and miserable in my origin state (Punjab) , even more so when u am returning.

I plan to cover around 4-500 km/ per day for the first day or so before reaching my angling interlude. Angling gear will be a travel rod and a casting rod if I can fit it on the bike. Luggage will be my soft Drystack bags by Rynox - I found that saddle stays are needed to setup the bags on the Himalayan. Ordered saddle stays by Carbon Racing , a Scott oiler and am still waiting on the aux light relocation. Slime is on the way in case the tubeless rims are not available by the departure date.

Bike is having some issues with an unexplained intermittent squeak and tendency to pull to the right. I am also going to look at the oil and may shift to fully synthetic oil - any recommended brands will be welcome?

Will be updating the thread with bike updates and the actual travel destination as I go - open to all suggestions.

I've seen some videos claiming to solve that 'pulling to the right issue' but as it turned out i fell for the clickbait again. All that was said was to take it to a service center and trust them to fix it. That's not good enough in countries that ride on the left side of oncoming traffic.

the issue i have is with the service center itself. courtesy this forum , i had the service manual while the service center did not. they do not follow the torque specs and i had to insist on the compliance.
on a positive note, i managed to contact the area service manager from Enfield- lets see how it goes, he told me to he is getting the wheel alignment and this issue organized.

Ok gents & ladies - I finally have a route map ready and am attaching the pics of the route.
Day one shall be Amritsar to Bikaner - I am in love with a heritage resort by the name of Narendra Bhavan and their Nagori Chicken. That’s one dish I will reroute for. Not for the faint hearted or for one not habituated to spicy food though. This stretch is gonna be through rural Punjab before opening up to great roads in Rajasthan. Bikaner is also a nice touristy city but priority is the chicken.
Next day shall be Bikaner to Jawai dam. Jawai is a bit further than Jodhpur - another heritage city with great food. The USP of Jawai is the booming leopard population and the angling in the old waters of Jawai dam. If catch reports and fishermen are to be believed (never believe fishermen) the snake heads there have topped out at 13 kilograms. This will be my angling camp for 3 days. Then it will be onwards to the true desert and dunes of the Thar at Longewala and back to Bikaner via Tanot temple. I hope to get tons of video vide my first moto logging setup (DJi action 4 and DJI mic 2 with another perspective being provided by a DJI action 2. Any pointers regarding this setup will also be appreciated. Will keep updating the thread!IMG_9175.pngIMG_9176.pngIMG_9177.png

500km in a day is a good amount for making progress without being too hard, if you're cruising at a good speed - I had a look at Streetview, the road down to Longewala looks nice and smooth, I bet that makes a pleasant change after more rural roads.

It sounds like you're very food motivated :)

Food and prey - only worthwhile motives!

if ever in this part of the world , try this dish (assuming the cook doesn’t change). Then let me know - from a culture which likes spices and good food this is the best chicken dish I have tried.

road to longewala and onwards are awesome , last i was there someone else was driving. Gotta watch out for sand drifts and chinkaras.

I had to look up Chinkaras, really pretty but yes, I'd not want to hit one!
Have a great trip, it sounds wonderful.

got the saddle stays fitted - the install went somewhat smoothly in the absence of any instructions included. Had to see pics of the product on the website and install the dammed thing.
seems solid however and does not stand out as an assembly. It also performed the intended purpose of keeping my saddle bags off the muffler (less than ideal situation). Will take it for a shakedown ride and report.IMG_9255.jpegIMG_9254.jpegIMG_9254.jpeg

I have been known to make large detours for good curry, but not quite that far :p
My record is 1200 miles (in a car) for a hamburger, one-way. We did a lot of other stuff that week, but a hamburger (it was okay, glad I had one but not at the top of my list) was the excuse for picking that city as the destination over others on the list.

My mother has been known to plan up to 10-day vacations around the restaurants and then figure out what museums, historic sites, etc. to see while digesting. I got to go on the 8-day Low Country trip, Charleston to Savannah based out of gullahland (Hilton Head area). I learned that the best seafood comes from a bookstore and that food-based traditions can be the most lasting remnants of a culture.

Jokes apart - the route is via Bikaner and the chicken is a plus. Still got a rude shock when i called the resort and they only had the grand rooms available for around 360 GBP per night. This is way up from the last time at around 80 GBP.
Hard pass on the room but will still try for the chicken

Ouch on the room, I've had that happen to me in the day before internet. Call around to places, get prices, decide on which place, call back and those rooms are gone with only more expensive rooms left... Glad you found out before you got there at least, that would be a very rude shock.

I'm looking forward to hearing about the ride. I know so little about that area, which means I have so very much to learn.

You mentioned that home would be having terrible weather while you will be enjoying lovely days, do you have you plans for coming home and having the last leg of it be very bad weather indeed?

No option but to return to home mate . The journey has to end at home. This place where I work currently is likely to be foggy and cold vs sunny and cool deserts. In fact some parts of Thar will be downright hot. I am also angling around a place with a very heavy density of leopards and close to a designated leopard sanctuary. Hope to get some sightings in

If you manage to see a leopard in the wild that would be very cool! Not a bad idea to plan a trip around good food, I've been recommended a few places in far flung parts of Spain so that would make for good motivation to go explore more (there's loads to see, and in 6 years I've still only scratched the surface).

In other news google tells me that that curry would be 11,000km one-way for me 😅

Bikes all ready - save that slight right pull in hands off mode. Got the fog lamps installed today - went for Maddog Alphas (local brand here). Baja design has jumped in price since i last purchased. How ever my mom developed a retinal tear and I am waiting on her to be given the green light postop by the ophthal before I leave. IMG_9325.jpegIMG_9326.jpeg
