Riding in Argentina

Here are some shots of a trip to Salta and other parts of north west Argentina that I did a few years ago. I couldn't find anyone to come with me so I just took off by myself and had a wonderful time.
Fortunately I have a Brit friend who lives near Salta so I was able to stay at his house for a couple of nights before continuing my journey to Cachi, from where I rode to Cafayate on the mythical Ruta 40 which turned out to be 140kms of gravel. Not recommended for a custom/chopper style bike, so I hope to return to that spot on the Himalayan.
Argentina is a vast country with so much to explore and my first major trip on the Himalayan will be to Puerto Madryn in Patagonia :)

My wife and I have just got back from a camping holiday in Cordoba, Argentina. She's not a bike fan, so the Himalayan wasn't an option, but we had great fun anyway, surviving a massive thunderstorm, extreme heat and also tested all the camping gear.
Most of all, it was a great recce for riding the area. The main roads ae in excellent condition and all the side roads are dirt/gravel, mainly hard and compacted. This also applies to most Argentine states, so it's good news for my next adventure!
This is Los Cocos and other small towns, Cordoba. It's quite a trek, even in a car.

The friend I rode with to Patagonia in April now has a KLR 650 and is making great progress to the end of the world - Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego for a huge bike meet up.
It's very windy down that way which is probably why it's called The Roaring Forties, as you can see from this Windy shot.
