Scram 411 Exhaust Options

Getting there...
I had the same issue with the head pipe with that mount under the bike. It didn't even come close to lining up properly. The stock pipe didn't have that tab for the mount so I took a sawzall to the Delkevic head pipe and whacked it off. Getting rid of the cat helped.
Exactly what I did too! Just haven’t got around to re-fitting the front pipe yet

@2LZ and @Learningcurve, I want to make sure I have this right. I've been looking at the Delkevic slip-ons and full systems as well, and had been leaning toward the complete system as I try to be a "buy once, cry once" kind of guy and figure eliminating the cat will reap rewards that I wouldn't get just with the slip-on. I had been leaning towards putting one of the Delkevic complete systems on my Christmas list but then saw your fitment issues.

Looking at my bike, the stock exhaust is only mounted in two locations: the exhaust header pipe (where it connects to the engine, is that the right term?) and the suspension bracket just below the pillion seat pegs. In pics online I can see the Delkevic complete system has an extra mounting point at the center stand; you're saying that mount then causes the exhaust to rub the swingarm, but that if you skip that mounting point and just use the two that are used in the stock system that everything works out fine, so you just cut that mount off? Any other fitment issues to warn about?

If I'm going to have to do a lot of metalworking to get the complete system to work I'd likely just go with a slip-on, I know my limits on stuff like that. OTOH, if it's just a matter of skipping a mounting point, still having as secure a mount as stock, and maybe a bit of grinding to get rid of that unneeded mount, then I'd probably still go forward with the complete system. I can see from pics online that extra mounting point is going to need cut off if it isn't used, but would be cool with it if everything still held tight and didn't rattle or bounce.

ALSO, for the complete system, how does the hang of the muffler match that of stock? I ask because I'm running the RE pannier racks with some aftermarket soft bags and there's precious little space between the right bag and the silencer. I'd appreciate a bit lower hang but would be fine with matching the stock hang, but probably couldn't handle the silencer hanging any higher.

Thanks for all the info!

Not a problem to make a little flat strap extender so match the middle bracket to the mount at the centre stand.
I had to make two extenders , as the rear mount point was 40mm to low and 20mm to far out, but should suit your luggage.
I like to fit the front of the system first to be certain I am pulling it in square onto the gasket, then adjust the other fixings to ensure I have the complete system sitting stress free, but others suggest the opposite, your choice.

The middle mount isn't necessary. I think it's a Himmy thing for those who hammer boulders and logs all day. I whacked mine off as the original exhaust didn't have it
Get the whole system if you want. I've had multiple Delkevic systems and have been happy with all. That said, the only "bolt straight on and it be perfect" was a gazebo I just built. Expect some DIY stuff.

The factory torque for the head stud nuts is pretty low, too low for me to want a unsupported exhaust system hanging from it and pulling it out of square.
I fitted a Delcovic Tri Oval system, which combined a over loud , objectional tone with a noticeable loss of performance.
The can was replaced with a Powerage which restored the lost power and had a pleasing more muted tone.
FWIW the removal of the cat seemed to make no noticeable difference to the power, again others may differ.

I did the Delkevic header and PoweRage muffler. Really like it. Nice and mellow at cruise and only gets louder when you get on it.
I noticed a slight improvement in the power curve (not power) with the header. It also cleaned up the appearance.....but the BIGGEST difference I noticed is it helped stifle that dang rattle/buzz the motor makes at certain RPMs. That's what's helped with that the most other than miles.

Hmmm... from the sound of it you both started with complete Delkevic units then traded out the cans? I ask because I've perused the Delkevic site and there's no option to buy just the header from them (apparently, unless you have different info). So it sounds like the only way I could follow in your footsteps and go with the Powerrage you recommend on an aftermarket header would be to do exactly what it sounds like you both did: pony up for the full system then pitch the Delkevic can and mount the Powerage. Heaven knows the price on the Powerage can is much more manageable.

If most folks aren't feeling the cat is a huge issue then I may just go for the Powerage can and leave the stock pipe. I don't have a care in the world about how the bike sounds, I'm not a "loud pipes save lives" type so I just want it to go down the road well. @Roy Gavin and I have been talking in another thread about dropping a sprocket for more pep around town; I'm not looking for huge gains I'm just getting rolling on the typical "Stage 1-2 mods" (airbox/filter and exhaust) and want to make sure I'm allowing ENOUGH outflow without going off the deep end on cost in pursuit of minimal or subjective gains.

I bought the PoweRage muffler first, then added the header a month later. I was able to order it directly from Delkevic. Of course, I can't find the email now but I found this. I think mine was a tad cheaper but not a bunch. I think I paid somethere around 175.00 for it.

I managed to fit the rear heat shield.
Used a couple of worm drive hose clamps to hold a lazy Z shaped 6 mm thick aluminum bracket with a hole tapped one end for the fixing screws.
Shield hides the lot---.
Loosing the rattle/ buzz from the system can be as much down to carefull fitting as anything else, which is where care taken to get the system hanging stress free and the bolts at the correct torque pays dividends.

I've been looking for that sound since I got the bike. I need to tape my stethoscope to various parts and go ride. It SO sounds like a metal buzz or vibration, but I truly think, at this point, it's an engine noise to be lived with. Driving me nuts..........

Spotted this weekend on Ebay this stunning delkavic full system at a very fair price. Thought I would love that. On contacting seller i was devastated (so was the seller) to hear it was withdrawn from sale due to massive damage from something falling from garage roof onto it.
I believe it belonged to a member of this forum.
All was not lost I got a what's ap later in the day from a lad I met last week on world ride who changed bikes and sold me is powerage end can at a very reasonable £60 .
