I shared my thoughts on this in a post about two months ago: https://www.royalenfieldowners.com/index.php?threads/2019-himmy-front-disk-lock-🤔.11184/post-118360

That's a quick read, and the executive summary is that I don't think much of the typical through-a-disc-hole locks, but for a little more money you can better all-purpose locks.

Also, given that the metropolitan areas of the UK seem to be unusually high-theft areas for motos (from what I've read), you might want to go with one of the locks that is highly resistant to angle grinders (although they're expensive ... but not nearly as expensive as a stolen bike, or the hassle that entails). For example, see www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5tuFesVtAA and https://thebestbikelock.com/security/angle-grinder-proof-bike-lock/ .

And if you really want to encourage would-be thieves to move along to the next bike, you could get one of those locks and a beefy chain (and keep it off the ground).

Good luck in your quest.

These days there's Airtags and the like. I remember back in the day all we had was LoJack, but now anyone can track a thief down!

Thieves will be thieves, but every thief knows risk/reward. Thankfully, Royal Enfields are pretty much just rewarding to their current legal owner 😆

There are several types of thief. Those that steal for temporary transport, the joy rider who steals purely to trash the bike and those who steal for resale value, parts etc. I wouldn't want my bike back after theft from any of these scum bags. I'd just want the insurance value.
Having had my pride and Joy stolen once I'm with you on this one. It simply would never be the same

The problem with Angle grinder resistant locks is whilst they may be bloody good with resisting an angle grinder but the weak spot is what it is attached to.
Brake discs are easily sliced and easily replaced as with barriers and railings are often manufactured from light gauge material. I'm not saying don't use them ,I'm just saying don't get fooled into a false sence of security.
