SM 650 Replacing touring seat with a standard and pillion seat

Getting there...
Hi All,
My Super Meteor came with the long touring seat but I much prefer the look of the standard seat, so I'm keen to swap it out.
I ordered a standard & pillion seat online, but it didn't come with any screws or mounting brackets to attach it.
Based on the below Hitchcocks page and what videos I can find on youtube, there are brackets at the front and back of the pillion I need to source, but I can't find anywhere online that sells them.

Has anyone had any luck swapping the touring seat to a standard seat and any tips on where I might be able to source the brackets?

Thanks guys, with a bit of playing around I figured out you can remove the touring seat and put the standard seat on OK, but adding the pillion seat requires the brackets.
Ultimately I went back to the local Royal Enfield dealer that sold me the SM650. They've ordered the brackets for me, but said they can't tell me how long it will take to get them (could be a few weeks, could be six months). In the meantime I've ordered a solo finisher to cover where the pillion seat goes which should arrive in the next few days.

Any success in receiving the requisite hardware and making the seat switch? I am in the same boat, just purchased a blue celestial a few weeks ago and would like to make the switch. If you have an invoice from the dealer with part numbers ordered, would be very grateful to know that information. Thank you.

Sadly I'm still waiting for the brackets. I got a call a few weeks back from the dealer to say parts had arrived, but when I went in to the shop it was just the 2 sets of bolts but the brackets hadn't arrived yet.

The relevant parts they ordered are in the screenshot below (prices are in AUD), I'm fairly sure the last item (the 4x M6 x 20 bolts) is redundant as they're the same bolts that hold down the touring backrest, but until I get everything I can't be 100% certain.

At the moment I have the standard seat on with a solo finisher, which I think looks OK and is suiting my needs for the moment, so I haven't exactly been going out of my way to source the brackets outside of waiting for them to show up at the dealer.

, Many thanks, I hope you receive the brackets soon!

Was successful in getting my touring seat changed out to the regular seats on my celestial trimmed SM 650. Ordered the parts from Hitchcock's in the UK, mailed to me in Texas and received in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. Refer to the schematic I have attached from their parts website:

1. I ordered the seats, both driver and pillion sold as a set, earlier from eBay from one of the vendors in India, no problems, OEM factory item received in about 3 weeks. The driver's seat already had bracket # 1 already attached and the pillion seat already had bracket #6 attached.

2. I ordered brackets # 8(RAU00025) and 9(RAU00026) and bolts #10(H6901024) M6x20 (4 of them).

3. They did not have the Allen head bolt cap screws, parts # 11 ( H6902034, M6x25, two of them) in stock. In reality after my experience, the bolts and Allen head screws can be sourced from a hardware store, I was able to get the Allen head bolt cap screws from my local Lowe's or Home Depot in the U.S. I do recommend picking up two washers of appropriate size for those two Allen head screws. If you cannot find Allen head type bolts, regular bolts will work in the M6x25 size, in which case you will probably not need the washers as the head of the bolts will be wide enough to provide a washer effect.

4. Refer to the second picture with the brackets mounted for illustration purposes - do not attach the #8 bracket to the fender first. Fit the driver's seat first, again I reiterate that my seat when purchased already came with bracket #1 already attached to the underside of the seat.

Bracket # 1 will make contact with the fender - position to align to the holes in the fender then place bracket #8 on top of bracket #1 with the holes for the bolts aligning and you're ready to tighten the assembly down with two M6 x 20 bolts.

5. Position bracket #9 to the rear of the fender, align the holes and bolt down with the remaining two M6 x 20 bolts.

6. Fit the pillion seat - bracket # 6 attached to the pillion seat will then bolt (using the two Allen head bolts M6x25) to bracket #8 already tightened down to the fender.

You will not be reusing any parts or brackets from the touring seat set up that you removed.

Please refer to the Hitchcocks online parts schematic, does not matter if it's the astral or interstellar trim or the years, the parts numbers are all the same. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

I guess my reading comprehension is poor, so please excuse this possibly redundant question. On a Celestial which comes with the one piece touring seat, if I only want the riders portion of the 2 piece stock seat, will I need to order additional brackets, or will the riders portion include the brackets needed?
Again, sorry if This was clear in your excellent post and pictures.
Thanks,
Rob

Hello RobN. Again I ordered my seat from a vendor in India, bracket number 1 already came attached with the driver seat. You would only need bolts number 10 to tighten it down to the fender. Bracket 6 and 8 are only necessary if you are going to fit the pillion seat. I would suggest you order the driver seat first to ensure you receive bracket 1 already attached. If not already attached, then you can order the bracket separately from Hitchcock's. If you're planning only doing the driver's seat solo you will have exposed holes in the fender that you could just plug up with bolts or purchase a SM650 rack for a finished look.

I meant bracket number 1 for the front seat; the rear pillion passenger seat came with bracket number 6 already attached.

OK, I see what you mean. Most of the (rider portion) seats seem to come with that bracket.
I will order the seat first, then order from Hitchcock's if I need anything else.

Appreciate it.
