SM Engine Guards

Bill S

Finally made it
I am thinking of getting the RE official Airfly Evo Engine Guards. I have not seen them on a bike in person, but they look like they stick out a lot. My concern is if I have a bike drop, not at speed protection. I am not sure the mini guards will protest much, maybe a protruding rock towards the engine itself if falling to the side.
Thoughts / opinions ?
Thinking of black instead of chrome.

Two types of guard, straight sideways D like factory fit on a BMW, and wrap round which return parallel to the motor and sometimes have a second fixing at the rear around the SA spindle.
Single D are OK for a fall of the stand, but can sometimes dig in an flip the bike, at speed.
Wrap round can be narrower so less protection off the stand but might let the bike side along on its side, which sometimes helps to warn other road users there might be a rider following.
So my preference would be the widest wrap round , not too rigid so they bend before the frame twists and paint so you can touch the up if you use hem.
Based on my personal experience , others will rightly differ!

that sounds sensible advice.

I have Airfly guards on The Bullet because of the look. They are not going to do anything but bend and bang into the tank if the bike falls over. They will stay while I think about it but I am not committed to them. On my Interceptor, I have the small engine guards which to protect the casings are probably more practical.
