Touring saddle for Himlayan

A Touring confort saddle is offered by Royal Enfield in their Parts/Accessories online shop for Himalayan model. Did anybody experience this saddle and is there any real and significant improvement of comfort compared to the original saddle?

Why RE didn't just fit this as original and charge £50 more for the bike I will never understand.
It looks like the old seat, but is MUCH more comfortable. I can ride a full tank (180 to 200 MILES) now without problem.
Recommmended. I paid £75 in UK.

the touring seat from Seat Concepts is also an option. Good for 700 km days.

I purchased the touring saddle after purchasing my Himalayan. There is an improvement in comfort. With the original saddle, I could feel the seat pan when I sat on the seat and hit a bump. The touring saddle, that wasn't happening, but I felt the seat was still uncomfortable for me after an hour on the bike. I am 6'2" and 240lbs, so my size probably factored in there more than the seat since others find the touring seat pretty comfortable. I ended up purchasing a Seat Concepts tall seat, and the bike is perfect now.

I have a RE Touring seat on the way - can;t wait for it to get here - I am 5'10 and at about 200lbs . . . Have done 350+ mile days on the stock seat - hope to find the exact right set up with this and maybe adding an Alaskan Leather sheepskin on her for my ride to Alaska this summer . . .

I reshaped both my seats, wrapped them in a layer of 10mm softish foam, stuck on , and fitted Sahara Seat covers from Amazon.
Recently saw the guys on Wheeler Dealers do the something similar on one of their restorations.
Half the price of front touring seat alone, and I got exactly what I wanted.
Depending on how you clean / protect your seat cover it can be too easy to make the seat too slippery, and this can make a big difference to comfort.

I am 5'10'' and about 185 lbs (83 kg)

I bought one about two years ago and have ridden with it for some 20,000 miles (32,000 km).

It is much harder than the original which I found to be way too soft, one extreme to the other.

After about 2 hours constant riding I am glad to get off it. Near the end of a long ride of between 300 and 500 miles (500 -800 km) I often have to stand up on the footpegs to get a bit of relief.

It is anything but a "comfort" seat.

I find it an uncomfortable seat but better than the original. I am going to buy a sheepskin and make a cover for it to se if that improves things.

That’s odd. I find the stock seat very comfortable. I’ve done 650 miles on it in one day and had no pain at all. I do stand on the foot pegs when I see a bump, pothole, or a washboard area coming up as always. I’m also a old guy in my med 60s with a bad back. In facked I go to the Himmy to ride when my back starts barking at me.

The only thing uncomfortable about the stock seat was the sloping bit: I could not sit in a comfortable position without being 'pushed' forward.
I remedied that by cutting away some of the foam, the seat is a bit flatter now. And better to sit on. (FWIW: I am 185 cm tall, and my knees stay just clear of the front racks in the new situation)

On the original seat I had no problem with it being too soft (I am about 65kg) but I somehow kept sliding forward until an intense feeling of discomfort in my jewels made be push my self back. Luckily the bike I ended up buying had the seat already padded up by 3cm in the front. It looks less curvy from the side now and is more round on the top front side but does not raise the sitting height much. For me that is extremely comfortable and good for 20h+.

I don't think the stock seat is bad but it is not for every body a good fit. Seat, handlebar and foot pegs are the only bike parts in direct contact with rider and humans differ a lot from each other. There is no shoe, no jacket that fits everybody. You need to test it!

I just read your new member introduction post. The best preparation for her would be to go on a 2-4 day trip to see what works, but you sure are aware of that option.
Handlebar position can be very important to.

Thanks for your comments. She will test the touring saddle and will go for a 2 day trip end of February in conditions (luggage and weight) quite similar to what she will experience later. I plan also to replace the handelbar and add handlebar riser too.

Changed direction a little on my seat - There was an issue with the RE Touring Seat delivery, so I cancelled it and just bought an Alasakan Leathers Rally sheepskin seat cover in Medium. Its like it was made for the Himmie! Took her for a hundred mile ride yesterday, and I don;t think I'm going to need to do anything else to the seat - it is PERFECT! I also got some sheepskin insoles from Alaskan Leathers - Insoles you say? Yeah that's what I said when I saw them on their web page but figured for $14 I'd give em a shot. The XL fit my Size 45 Forma Adventure boots perfectly - Yesterday the ride temps were between 19 and 34 - and my feet were toasty warm the whole time! Happy seat - happy feet - it just doesn't get any better than this!

I added the Seat Concepts Tall seat today. I decided to go with the Tall after some research and a few private messages with @DRugerH. It was the right choice.

I am 6'1", 235 lb / 107 kg. The stock seat was already sagging after 900 miles, giving me the feeling of sitting perpendicularly in one of those rubber playground swings. I was sitting too low in the bike and my legs were cramped.

Only 1.5" taller, the SC Tall seat makes it feel like a different bike. My legs and hips are at the correct ergonomic angle (I have a 34" inseam), the seating position is far more spacious. The seat is a few inches wider and the widest part of the seat extends toward the tank slightly more than the stock saddle, giving additional thigh support. I was worried that the seat may be too flat, but that is not an issue. I added the 40 mm risers as well. These help keep a bend in my arms.

The SC seat is pretty easy to install, though making the cover fit over the very back of the foam does not come easy. There is too much material and it is difficult to avoid wrinkles in the cover. I tried to move all of the wrinkles to the back where the pillion seat would cover them anyway. It looks okay for my first attempt at upholstery!

What's the difference between the black stock seat that comes on most models and the brown one that comes on the Mirage Silver model? The regular seats have a kind of slight suede feel to them, while the seat on the Silver is smooth. Or is it just the same stock seat with different cover material?
