Hi there.

Has any owner of the new Himalayan fitted the taller screen?

I'm still waiting for my ideal bike to come up for sale second hand:
Black
Tubeless tyres
Heated grips
Pannier rack
AND touring screen.

I took one for a test ride but the smaller standard screen was no good for me . I'm hoping the taller touring screen will make a difference - has anyone fitted one?

I am. 6.2 , and have the touring screen, but I think for my hight it give more buffering around the helmet, the only reason I bought it was to protect my Garmin for the rain, (I have placed it above the tachometer) but now I think about just use the stock one and ride between the raindrops 🤣🤣

Thanks Moistyfeet and Dervish. I've got a taller screen on my current Himalayan and it keeps the wind off my chest completely. I was hoping the touring screen would deflect the wind above throat level - you're not a 7'6" Jatulis are you Dervish ;-)

It buffets the head of 6'2" Moistyfeet and blows onto the throat of 5'7" Dervish.
I'm 6' sooooo... I'm going to have to try one to find out aren't I? Thanks for your input both :)

Perhaps try a deflector first on stock screen if not already thinking along that line. Then if that doesn't work try a touring screen and if not 100% perhaps the deflector may help. As it's early days still of the model another 12 months and there maybe be several options taller/wider etc.

It's about lenght of your back and legs, and their proportions.
But overall, I'd say it lifts the breeze same height the screen is taller than the stock.

Thanks again for the advice and the Scandinavian anatomy information

I'm still hoping that December / January I'll find one for sale that ticks my boxes above and plan to buy it - possibly without testing it out.
As Harleyboy suggests, I can always put a deflector on afterwards if the touring screen is too low.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Any suggestions for aftermarket touring screens? I'm 180cm, and the default one does next to nothing about wind blocking. I also read elsewhere that even the RE touring screen is not worth it for my height, so I'm thinking of either buying the RE one and add another extension, or buy an aftermarket that's already taller, but I haven't seen any yet.

Power bronze has an adjustable model- with the lowish power output the increased frontal area will affect performance. I plan to stick with the stock one - at speeds below 140kph I don’t mind the wind blast that much and in my mind the top of green for the 450 is likely 110-120 kmph.

I noticed that, on the stock screen, the wind over 110kmph is really distracting for me, and creates a lot of noise and force on my HJC helmet. I plan to do tops 120kmph on highway for at least 200-300 km, so I'm thinking really the better screen to at least reduce the air that hits my helmet.

I was using a Bell revolver without taking into account the shell shape. That helmet wanted to lift off at 140 kph and used to be highly noisy.
somewhere I read that this particular shell was optimised for sports bike posture and I was guided to an AGV K6. I have had zero issues with wind blast on my Harley (6ft 3 and 110 kgs) and don’t envisage issues on the Himalayan either.
I am not going for a touring style shield due to the hot weather here - only two months can be really cold .

I am using the HJC F71 helmet, in general if I close all the air ducts, it gets quite silent, but on speeds over 110kmph it still gets noise from the wind and some resistance. I live in a hot climate area as well, but I would not mind having a better shield in the cost of speed, but less sound and wind on my helmet.
I also tried the AGV K6, but it didn't really feel good on my head, i was in between sizes, but never felt comfortable with it, that's why I went with the HJC. I should probably upgrade my helmet sometime, but for now I will stay with that.
