I'm heading for Puerto Madryn next Tuesday on a special mission.
Many years ago my sister gave me a piece of slate from her very old house in west Wales. The slate was mined in Blaenau Ffestiniog and although it was placed on the house long after it was built (circa 1450), it will be a nice piece of Wales for the Welsh association in Patagonia. I've mounted it on a nice varnished piece of hardwood with a small plaque explaining what it is.
On my last long ride to the north of Argentina, I took too many clothes and bits that just took up space, so I'm cutting down this time. I also took far too many tools, so I'll be taking what I absolutely need. For instance, replacing the chain requires some really small tools for removing the front side cover, so I've been matching up tools with nuts that I may need access to if required.
Round trip will be about 3000kms with two night stops either way, so it will be 6-7 days away and I can't wait to get out onto the open road and leave the city behind
