Tripper app

Most reviews of the new Enfields don't include the tripper app other than to say what a great idea.
Can any one or everyone with atripper that they use tell me are they any good?
What's the good and bad you have found with it. Or would you rather have a rev counter?
Thanks in anticipation (y)

I use the tripper, which works in conjunction with Google maps, and find it useful. A rev coiunter for my SM650 is not needed (IMHO).
One needs to adjust a bit to the limited instructions (straight lines and curving arrows) since the map is not shown.
I like it since it's unobstrusive and small.
Regards,

My H452 has the new improved Tripper app, which is capable of displaying actual maps on the top half of the TFT display. I think it's still far too limited to replace an actual navigation system, so I still have my retired iPhone running a stand-alone navigation app on the bars:

23587

I should note that I rarely let any device navigate for me; I prefer to use old-school maps to determine where I'm going. Most of the time the GPS just confirms that I am where I think I am. Occasionally I arrive at an intersection where the map says there are three roads and find four or five; then the GPS is handy because it helps me determine which road is the one I was planning to take. And when I go on organized rides, it seems the routes are always distributed as GPX tracks, which (far as I know) the Tripper software doesn't handle (I know it is possible to display a GPX track in Google Maps, but it doesn't look terribly easy).

I hope that at some point down the road RE upgrades the H452's TFT firmware to full Apple CarPlay capability. Then I might consider using it as more than a speedo/tach/fuel gauge. Maybe.

I too have the TFT screen on my Guerilla. Although with Nav selected I have the option of full map display in Digital mode, I prefer to keep the tacho display in Analogue mode with only turn by turn display in bottom half of screen. Although the tripper pod only offers the same I find, especially when augmented with bluetoothed voice instructions to helmet, it's more than adequate for following a route. This also leaves my phone safely in jacket with no worry of losing or having it stolen.

The Tripper on the 452 seems to be far more useful than the one on the J series and my Scram. I find the 'little' Tripper to be mostly a gimmick and not particularly useful. Plus, it's kind of a faff to get connected. Early on, it had lots of issues with freezing or not working but updates seem to have fixed it. It also uses a LOT of battery power from your phone, which means for a trip of any distance the phone needs to be plugged in. Well, if I'm doing that, I may as well just use my phone's (better) navigation tool.

As I've often opined, it's a nice clock. :)

A clock that doesn't keep time, to set it you have to allow access to all the juicy information on your phone, and it blinds you at night. Taking it off improved my night time riding experience a lot! (I'd rather use OSMAnd on a phone or my Garmin Montana for actual navigation ... Google seems to have too much unwanted bloat for me these days and relies on having a phone signal ... and they like to sell all their user information)

In short - No sir, I don't like it.

i do agree that is a blindingly bright white light haha

The tripper module on my 411 is useless. Have to pair up every time I use it. When I put in a destination and hit go it displays the first turn then 10 seconds later it drops out back to the clock and loses connection. I'm using Android 14 in a samsung and the 411 is a 22 model

The updated version of the Tripper app works flawlessly now in my region(Belgium) on my SM 650. You can upload other gpx route files and even record your trip.
It uses Google maps which also takes into account altered traffic situations.

The RE app can be downloaded here in Belgium from the Play store which is a Google product. Maybe the app is only available in Europe.
I have an Android smartphone.

If you run the RE app then open your account, click on settings icon top right then Manage Devices. Your bike device should then show up. Click on three vertical dots to right of this and select Tripper Dash Settings then Firmware Version. Would be interested to know what yours shows

Note you don't need bike connected to do this.

When I do this I get this final screen but nothing happens when I choose the three possible menu items. Like I said the app can always be updated using the Play store where it originally was downloaded from.25845

These are the equivalent screens I get.

It looks like you haven't paired app to phone yet since the bikes code number isn't shown hence missing menu items.

Not sure the Play Store version of app gives you latest firmware BTW. Why would they provide the update option from within app otherwise 🤔Screenshot_2025-03-11-11-27-31-984_com.eu.royalenfield.reprime.jpgScreenshot_2025-03-11-11-27-55-038_com.eu.royalenfield.reprime.jpg

I connected the phone but this didn't change anything. I am not having the two lower menu options. Like I said all the apps from Play Store that I have on my phone are updated there. After the update I can now also import gpx files and record my route. The app also connects to my wireless headset for spoken instructions.
I wonder if the app version is for European users only.
