Unable to edit previous posts

Not sure why this changed... but I was able to edit previous posts and now the Edit option is no longer available.

Why the change?

Reason for asking is that it was useful on ownership threads to go back and edit the changes in the initial post.

Or to make updates/corrections in posts that I might had made a mistake with the part number information or spelling mistakes.

Can we have this back??

I'd like it back too, but it seems intermittent, some posts I can still edit.
And I have started getting email notifications of responses to my posts, something I haven't had for years and probably don't need now.
Someone probably doing a bit maintenace, but-----!

Honestly, the ability to edit/delete posts in perpetuity was a mistake on my part. There are too many instances of people rage-deleting all their content, or modifying content in an effort to troll. I've set the edit limit to 60 minutes, which I think is very fair.

Knowing you can't make edits in the future makes you a better beeb citizen in the near term when you create your content.

I haven't made any changes to settings which would affect email notifications.

Sucks for those of us that use it correctly… but I have seen it being misused.

You are the boss, you make the rules.

Yes, I understand exactly why you have done it, i have seen repeated instances of improper behaviour from a certain gentleman, changing and deleting posts in order to troll others.
But as an ancient with minimal typing skills, (I always has a PA) , some of my post may end up looking a little illiterate.
Perhaps I am going to have to use the preview function a little more----!

Gotta be different.

It's things like this that turned people away from old-school forums to so-called "social media" like FB.

Yep, while I understand why it has happened I would rather have seen the problem sorted at the source, most times it was the same couple of guys.
And for most who were trolled it was like water of a ducks back , most who ride a bike don't bother much if some half wit spends most of his waking hours trying to find ways of abusing them .
And most others find it a good belly laugh!
