I'm definitely an IB fan and have bought my Himi primarily because of her. COVID discussion aside, I really don't have any idea how you can accuse her of hamming for the camera, etc. It simply boggles my mind that someone can watch her channel and say that...
Well it is a personal perception thing. I loved her earlier stuff when she was out there having real adventures, for example when she was working her way through the Stans, like when she ran into that goat and had to take off before the farmer came. Now I just find her vids contrived and boring, like she's going through motions, not genuine. There were a couple of spots in Africa that were good, but mostly it was just blah...like watching someone's home videos.

But that's just me.

No, it's not just you. I think a lot of us feel the same way. I bought my Himmy because of her videos from her first 2 years, but now - meh.... contrived and forced. Although I still go back and watch her earlier stuff. They're still fun sometimes.

So, basically what I get from your posts is that Noraly needs to put herself in more risky, dangerous situations, with run ins for you to be entertained.

Also, since you canceled your trip from fear, everyone should cancel their trips.

Don't people get vaccinated before traveling so they are protected? That was the way it was prior to 2020. Do you not believe that the COVID vaccine will protect you?

Yes, let's not let this deteriorate into judgements and discussions about covid.

But my only comment is... whoa dang, how did the discussion go from somewhat boring videos to wanting something bad to happen to Noraly? In her first two years, I don't recall her ever getting really in over her head, ever risking her life in any major way or acting recklessly. Her videos were fun, adventurous and wonderfully innocent. So how does a comment like 'contrived' lead to anyone wanting her to 'put herself in risky, dangerous situations' for our entertainment? That just doesn't make sense.

The covid problem put her between a rock and a hard place. She'd been making her living with her videos and all of a sudden that source of income really tanked. She tried to make the best of it, but there wasn't really a good way forward. No harm, no foul. Just making an observation about her videos in southern Africa, which don't seem to be as fun and spontaneous as the first two years. Maybe her new adventures in So. America will be better.

OG looks to have hit the nail on the head, in the first few series it was the innocence of Noraly that was the big draw, she was doing stuff that we all thought "I could maybe do that" on a bike that was also the underdog - cheap single cylinder without the gadgets of backup of BMW etc. Done on what looked like a tiny budget - got to admit it was one of the main reasons I bought a Himmy. Maybe I will never get to ride through India, but the thought that I could gets me through the days

Getting there...
she is a feisty one that lass - but can i give a shout out to Lois Pryce - her m/cycle travel books are amazing - particularly down through africa - parts of that trip were actually spine chilling. She is teamed up with Austin Vince (mondo enduro, terra circa, mondo sahara) - no backup trucks, wild camping every night, engine rebuilds under the tarp. 3 Cd`s i implore y`all to buy- these guy were unsponsored - one sold his property to fund the trip.

Agree it was the main reason many of us ended up buying a Himalayan.
I for one am thankful that it happened (she made those Himmi based videos), and I have a Himmi. It’s the fastest bike I’ve owned in terms of “0 to stupid grin”😀
Back to Noraly, now I watch her for the ‘solo bike rider’ vlog experience and her good narration / explanation of places she visits.

Interesting alot of people say that because of her YouTube vids is why they bought a Himmy. To bad RE didn’t see this opportunity and sponsor her with a new Himmy every year. I know early on she got a free new bike from RE just by giving up her old Himmy.

Personally I’ve been an advocate for RE for eleven years now after I bought my first 500 G5 RE Bullet Deluxe I was hooked. After following the Himalayan in India, I then saw and sat on one at the February 2018 Dallas TX IMS show. I then knew I had to have one. I’ve bought a lot of new bikes in the past and this is the first and only one I’ve bought without test riding it and I’ve been smiling every time I ride it.

It was actually the Danish importer, not Royal Enfield that traded bikes with her. As she has said before, she doesn't want to work for someone which being sponsored is just that. They have a say in the content you create.

I said “I know early on she got a free new bike from RE just by giving up her old Himmy.”

Whether it be a RE importer, RE Dealer, or ER Eicher Motors it’s all the same to me, she got a new bike from RE.

My good buddy that I did long distance riding with for decades, God rest his sole had two of his kids sponsored by a Yamaha dealership out of Seattle, new bikes and parts for many years. It was always said that it was Yamaha that sponsored them. Even though my buddy didn’t directly race for Yamaha or the dealership, my bubbly always got new Yamaha sport touring bikes and a dirt bikes from the dealership at cost.

DUTCH importer? She is from the Netherlands.

She has sponsors for her helmet and riding gear, at least. Special custom paint job on the helmet. REV'IT supply her gear. She dedicated Season 6 episode 2 to them both.

Noraly’s latest videos from South America crossing over to Panama and the latest one in Panama released today (challenging river crossing) are some of her best ones yet. (ok I know you can’t say ‘some of’ and ‘best’ together 🙂)
The boat rides a few episodes ago had me seriously concerned for her safety.

I couldn't agree more. I was very curious about how she'd do the Darien, and, well there ya' go. The crossing across the bay in Columbia was nuts! Some poor shmuck trying to keep the bike upright... jeezuz!

I will take those sketchy mountain roads over riding in the city every time.
