Washington state bans gasoline powered vehicles and their registration by 2030

Hope they get the electrical grid modernized, else there will be a lot of brownouts and stationary vehicles if they require charging. Once the fossil fuel industry has no demand for gasoline, it will become much more costly to produce other by-products such as plastics, as refineries will go by the wayside. Why modernize a refinery now to be efficient when they are going away in the next 9 years? Big changes and disruptions in store, mark your calendars., and hold on to your wallet.

I wrote on a biker YT channel last year that this will be my last motorcycle, as the internal combustion engine is fast heading for obsolescence, or, more specifically, they will be outlawed before 2050 for all but the privileged classes. The comment was ignored, as expected. Seems like a long time away, but laws will be implemented incrementally in the interim period. While most people are compliant zombies with the CV19 and rushing to be lab rats for the phase 3 trial of the novel gene manipulation injection, world leaders have been busy making plans to implement United Nations agenda 2030 (aka the Great Reset) of 50% reduction in carbon emissions. Boris Johnson has pledged a 78% reduction by 2035. The goal for net zero is 2050. In the meantime I expect high carbon taxes on fuel and big fuel guzzlers and maybe journey distance, the later has already been curtailed under the pretext of CV19 and I can well imagine compulsory gps devices to track vehicles in the next year or two.
So enjoy your riding and tinkering now, because you don't have many years left of it.

Exactly what I am doing now and the reason I got my Himalayan, before it was too late. (You know the saying Built Like a Gun....not PC today)
Feel bad for the future generations, wouldn't want to live their lives.

any estimates or projections on what the kwh cost will be by then? Even if you could afford a used EV, maybe the charging cost will be sky high. On top of that you know the government needs to get their share via taxes.
Or how all the apartment dwellers are going to charge their vehicles?

Sure glad I live in a grounded in reality state.

I have one of these chargers. It doesn’t work very well up here in the drippy cloudy NW.

I sure hope people are fighting this. It will be 2040 before there will be affordable used EVs for the lower income people.
Do you really think those tree huggers care about the poor? And they really aren't tree huggers and much as control freaks who want to control everything we say and do. The US has cut carbon emissions far more than most countries. But China and India are pumping out tons of carbon emissions everyday and no one is talking about that now are they?

Just came across a report that the Biden administration is going to ban travelers from India starting May 4th.

“On the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the administration will restrict travel from India starting immediately,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed in a statement. “The policy will be implemented in light of extraordinarily high COVID-19 caseloads and multiple variants circulating in India. The policy will take effect on Tuesday, May 4.”

In full sun here in San Diego, if I connect the panel it will charge the battery in about 1 hour if its discharged from between 12-13 volts up to about 13.9v, which is enough to start the bike so I can ride it. So I plan to use it intermittently in these cases. I'll also take it on extended trips as a backup. Once I have my negative battery disconnect switch I will no longer have the parasitic drain through the regulator/rectifier. I expect a batch of bad diodes got used in the RR unit at manufacture time and maybe RE can do a recall of any bikes that were built with these. I'm going to see if my local dealer can submit a request to have RE look into this.

This whole works is such a crock! This country doesn't have the electrical infrastructure, forgot how to build reactors, last time I looked there's two reactors being assembled in Georgia at three times overrun. So it leaves them burning coal and natural gas and fossil. Tell me where the common sense in any of this is? And then when it comes to battery recycling, are you kidding me? Just another footprint to fight with. There's a lot of idiots with a lot of thick knee pads getting rich out of pushing this one through

We've managed to put up two nuclear power plants, both three times over rejected cost whereas China is in the current process of putting in 27 of them. I lived there long enough to know North China can get nasty with smaug because of the cold and wood plants but at least they're moving forward. This country hasn't done anything new concerning nuclear power in decades. I'm not sure we remember how to build them. No matter what happens they can't put in enough power to satisfy the grid in 8 years. Gas engines are going to be around a hell of a lot longer... And the politicians pockets are going to keep growing with cash
