What have you done to or how's your Scram 411 recently?

Today I concluded a mysterious oil leak that I cause while checking my valves… Went for a cruise a couple hours ago and while riding in the middle of Vinton County (least populated county in all OHio) I heard a pop or a bang while going 50-60 in a gradual left curve, got scared and proceeded to brake kinda hard, bike went upright and before I knew it I was off the road, through some grass, dropped down a few feet into the ditch and eventually the bike came to a stop laying on its left side my leg underneath. Hit the kill switch instantly. Wow is all I could think while I checked my body walked a few feet away and looked around. Left blinker gave way but didn’t break, from tank guard actually did stuff, and my shifter was magically upside down, actually laughable all things considered. I let the engine chill for a minute before I fired it up and relearned how shifting might work with it in its f’d up configuration. Got it out of ditch using something other than first, idk I think I was in shock still. Looked everything over and other than the blinker, amazing tank guard lol, shifter, my handlebar was bent slightly… looked pretty good so I set off home keeping it under 50mph. Felt pretty great! The bike took a licking and keeps on kicking. Fixed the shifter and the light, tank guard actually looks better now that it has some character, some road rash on my left leg and a bruised knee is the worst I took, my jacket gloves helmet pants n boots did great! Feeling pretty grateful!20002

Damn! Glad you're OK and everything's still going strong with the bike.

Glad yer ok. Ever figure out what the "pop, bang" was that sent you flying?
The sound didn’t have that feel a walnut hitting tire usually gives in the handling… My best guesses it was a large tree cracking in the forest or a gunshot. Definitely not the bike as I instantly must have assumed- hence breaking when I should have just continued to lean and then slowed down. A mistake I will aim to not make again. A friend told me to slow down, I’m gonna.

My shifter did that when I dumped my bike on gravel. I just disconnected the turnbuckle, swung the arm back to where it should be, and re-connected the turnbuckle.

Not an Assignation attempt?

Finally installed the LED taillight on the Scram. Both the blinker project, and now taillight are done. I finally gave up on crimp connectors, and solder and shrink tube everything. Takes another 10 minutes, but screw it. Tired of crap coming apart. Removed the grab bar also. My ankle hated it swinging both mounting and dismounting.
Here's a before and after.

So I had a mishap last week where I ended up off the road, bike in a deep ditch and it laying on me and it’s left side. Couple scuffs on left goofy tank guard/badge, shifter assembly got rocked 90 degrees, handlebar bent… Cleaned debris off bike, fixed shifter orientation and yesterday I installed new handlebars from Hitchcocks. Big big fan of these bars! The description matched exactly what I received. 2mm taller but the big improvement for me was the 20mm of added sweep back. The install took me 30 min with most of the time fiddling with the left grip to remove it due to glue. Everything matched up pretty great. At first when I grabbed them after installing my brain said there goes my ability to lean but moments after spinning the wheels I fell in love. It almost immediately improved my posture/slouch, added a bit of relaxation in my arms by increasing my ability to ride with my arms bent more than ever… and cornering both slow and fast was a non-issue. Highly recommend if anyone is looking to give their steering a tweak check out the braced handlebars for Himi on Hitchcocks!202052020620207

All good to know, and that you are good too!

Did the China cam today. Hardest part was separating the rocker cover. Everything else went stellar. Had Anapurna Dave playing Robin to my Batman. Believe me, he doesn't look good in tights. :ROFLMAO:
Did the usual new cam run-up procedure. Then took it out on a short, easy cruise so no real "butt dyno" info yet. The motor was TIGHT and barely started. Then loosened up after about four tries. I even rolled it over six times by hand to free it up. New cam journals, and that little half-clip for keeping the cam centered probably was the brief issue.
For reference: DNA filter kit, Fuel-X Lite, complete exhaust including cat-less head pipe and PoweRage muffler.

Nice, hope it turns out ok, keep us posted👍

What was the issue with the C clip, was it tight in the groove of the Cam?
Affirmative. It was snug in the groove. It rolled over fine by hand with my 1/2" ratchet prior to firing. I set the rocker cover to torque spec, starting with half way their first time around the cover.

Before cam install, I did eyeball both cams, but didn't get measurement comparisons. The lobes on the new cam were indeed, slightly taller and a tad wider, but not a HUGE difference like some other cams I've done.

Took her out again yesterday for a burn. A little more aggressive this time. First impressions:

1- A definite difference in exhaust note. More meaty.
2- A definite difference in engine mechanical noise. Not near as rattly. Lack of decompressor, perhaps?
3- The powerband is longer. It doesn't fall on its face after 5k. Still pulling up there.
4- No real difference in bottom-end to mid-range in the butt dyno regarding pull or acceleration BUT, I did notice on the speedo I was going an average of 5mph faster most of the time, on the usual roads, so it had to have been pulling more quickly but very subtly.

I'm sure I'll notice more as I ride it, compared to the stock cam. I can tell you this, it was worth the 80 bucks USD just to get rid of most of that damn engine rattle! (y):)

Now I'm wondering something, and all opinions are welcome. It seems maybe a bit rich at the transition between bottom-end and mid-range. I can feel it in the powerband delivery. I live at 3000ft and ride up to 6000". I'm wondering if the FXL may be a little much, even with my mods to both air intake and exhaust? It feels like on a carb bike, if the needle may be one clip to high in the emulsion tube maybe? Just right at that transition spot where the needle shoulder comes into play. It's not big, but i feel it. I may just ride it more and see if the ECU figures it out.

This could be interesting, I have heard that both the ECU and The Fx self learn.
I personally think in the Fx case it is just bs from the seller but in the case of the ECU I am not sure as many have put it forward.
On my last build where I tried to compare the Fx I found it rich by 1 and half to 2 points across the board.

Glad you're ok! Funny enough, the same thing happened to my shifter after dropping my bike in the Pine Barrens (several times actually 😬). One of my course instructors took a picture of mine and called the others over to have a look and a laugh because he'd never seen that before! 😂 And I described my bike as being "built like a Timex" too! 🤣inbound5272374434443077565.png

This is interesting... For me, the boost in low and mid-range torque/ acceleration continues to be the most noticeable benefit of the performance upgrade!

Himalayan Touring Seat review after 100 miles or so. I love it. More firm but it doesn't lean me forward near as much as the stock Scram seat. Glad i made the switch.
STILL waiting for those dang Zana skid plates.
This is the fully assembled/framed seat, right? I was almost taken in by something I saw on eBay until I read closer "seat COVER"... I need this upgrade in my life!

Yep, full seats.
I did find something interesting yesterday. I ordered one of those cool mesh seat covers for it and it won't fit over the touring seat. Another gift for Anapurna Dave.
