What have you done to your Himalayan today (or yesterday, or this week ...)

Had the efi to carb kit installed and works great on my 2021
My 2017 bike came with a carb as stock, would be interested to find out what HMC have set the TPS at!
If you can I would slip a bit clear tube over the drain outlet and find out where the fuel level is, the instructions in the workshop manual are for a different carb and are no help if you ever have to set it again.
The float bowl on mine has flooded at least half a dozen times due to dirt on the float valve, not much room for a filter between the tap and carb, so I tip the tank at service time to clean any crud out.

Did you have the option of EFI back then?
I bought in 2020 and the Old model was available for 500 dollars less, I thought I wanted ABS and thought I would be prepared to put up with EFI.
I still think of doing a Carb conversion but would be using a Mikuni VM36 skipping the TPS and using my Reprogramable ECU ( seems a waste but I have a couple ;)) to get the Ignition advance

hitchcocks sells the entire kit which has the electrical connectors for the tps and other sensors. It now works on gravity with regular petcock and choke with idle air screw hand adjustment.

Plenty of room for you to fit a Fuel Filter in line as the Line is Long!
I think what Roy is talking about is using a piece of clear line to check the Float Bowl Level from outside now that it is new and presumably set correctly in case you have flooding problems later on

Yes that was what I was planning since the kit did not come with one, and on the other thing u mentioned if you have any photos would help so I can set it up.

Getting there...
Is anyone using Motul 7100? I’m wondering if it causes any clutch or other issues. It’s MA2 which is what RE requires but full synthetic. RE owners manual says use semi synthetic which is Motul 5100. Not trying to start an oil discussion…just want to know about any issues with Motul 7100.

Yep i've used it for the last 1800 miles, no clutch issues for me or anything else detrimental to report.

The manual sets the minimum standard of oil, nothing anywhere says that you can't use a better one.
I have used the 7100 10/60 in my 2017 bike for the last 50,000 km with no clutch problems and the clutch on these bikes was considered a weak point and was upgraded on later bikes.
Someone posted on this forum a oil test on flat tappet air cooled Norton race twins. 7100 was the top MA oil, anything better was a race oil dosed with some supplement.
And RE advise a 20/50 is fine too.

I did my first service today. Went well. Bikes easy to work on. Valves were slightly tight. Set at .004/.009 thou. Wanted Motul 5100 but forgot to order on Amazon (45.00) and at local store was 65.00. Went with 2 qts of bel-Ray 15w50 “thumper” semi Synthetic for 15.00 ea I like it.. Was “thick”. Added the fuelX lite tuner, definitely can tell the difference.( no other mods yet) has More TQ at 4K, smoother down low, seems more revvy. Very pleased. I’m LOVING this bike!!

This Guy seems to explain it.
Personally I think Roy should supply a few diagrams ;)
To dumb to post pics , but that guy has it covered.
Should have said my flooding was due to dirt on the float valve, one time requiring the carb to be removed to sort, and I lost both float level and ( stupidly) TPS setting!
Problem with carb on bike is access to remove the drain/ overflow pipe on the bottom/ back of the float bowl and replace it with a bit clear tube.
Beyond my arthritic old hands but may be possible for some.
FWIW the level on mine was above the bowl joint, the height of the overflow stand pipe in the bowl is usually some guidance as to the max level!

Guglatech has an in tank filter that'll keep the crud out.

Thanks for that ,out of stock, but I will keep looking
I bought one yesterday and installed it. Weather was cold yesterday and had to choke it for sometime, I took off the choke early and it did shut off once at idle.
Different location for the fuel tap on the carbed bike tank , on the other side close to the carb, and even a bit thick wall Ethanol proof J30 - R9 hose hits the choke.
I have similar filters on my Beemers , can't recall any flooding in ten times the distance I have covered on the Hima.
Of course the Beemer float bowl unclips in two seconds if ever needed-----!

This one taps into right side of moto where the fuel pump was located. The carb is very tight since it is much bigger than the small throttlebody.

Does the Himalayan (BS4) have fuel tap? I haven't been able to find it.
Also, does it have a reserve tank? On my Jawa, I can turn the fuel tap upwards so that I can get to a petrol station on reserve.

No to both questions.
FI bikes nearly always have no fuel tap as the pump can get damaged if it runs dry - so no reserve either. You have to rely on the count up of the Reserve mileometer on the dash (it flashes when in that mode).
