What have you done to your Himalayan today (or yesterday, or this week ...)

Have you done many miles with those panniers so close to the silencer outlet?
I would carry ice cream and champagne in the LH pannier, hot dogs in the RH pannier.
Put it on last week. About 300+ miles with it so far.
It's the viewing angle. Actually about two inches clearance and no heat problems, even with the OEM pipe.

I took a run into town and back this afternoon, about an hour total, got back, left it idling and made a video of me putting my hands fully on the muffler body, very slightly warm, moving my hand to the end, still negligible warmth. No heat shield needed, at all. Only the angled metal outlet pipe was warm and I could still grab it barehanded no problem.

The panniers could be contacting the silencer body with no damage, and that's with no airflow moving over it.

I tried uploading the video but a message told me the file was too large for the server. I can send it to anyone interested or worried about heat from these mufflers, no issue whatsoever.

Installed a USB socket with voltage readout and integrated on-off switch (which I really don't need since I've run everything through a switched fuse block). Purchased from Amazon and the best of three I ordered and returned. Well made, display is readable in bright daylight and not too bright at night. Installed a rubber boot on the back side designed for a power socket. Fits perfect and seals unit from moisture. Also Amazon.

The mount was made at work since I have access to a mill cutter but easily made with a Dremel and files as well. I copied the design from a photo I saw online. Hitchcock's??

I like it :)

Yes, great USB mount. Glad the panniers are clear, there was concern on another thread about melting the plastic corner of an RE pannier but I think it turned out to be a bit of plastic bag burnt on.

Neat Mount, very saleable I would think.
Already being done 🙄. I copied the design from a photo on the net. I think it was a Hitchcock mount. A simple and easy design to fabricate from a flat piece of steel or aluminum. Kudos to the originator.
(Edit) I found it. Hitchcock's sells them with their USB socket and harness. I like their stuff but that is a little pricey to me, especially with shipping, while I figure I have less than $20 in the whole thing.

Cleaned up cables and wires to achieve a smooth/easy turning of the bars. Before that it felt like everything was catching. Huge difference and no more concerns with premature damage to the wires and cables.

For better or worse I decided to try the Liqui Moly. It says it’s safe for wet clutches. I figured that with an air cooled motor, I’ll take any extra wear protection I can get.

After reading the warnings on the forum, I checked the oil cooler pipes. Sure enough, one had been slightly abraded by the engine bolt head. I had a piece of old rubber fuel pipe so cut a slot in it and placed it over the pipe at that point. Phew!

I've got this thing running exactly as I want it, so taking every chance I can to enjoy it before Winter makes everything less fun.View attachment 13108
That's great it's running well.
I mentioned liking the color of your bike in another thread and it not being available to us in the US.
It must be quite striking to you as well, according to your avatar and phone.(y)

Thanks - will probably get one from Hitchcocks with my next order - I prefer to support them even with just a small purchase and their price is no more than on ebay.
Their web site says it just gets splashed by the oil so too short to be used as a dipstick. (The one in my BMW is much longer so becomes the dipstick).

I'm not sure the location is suitable. For one, it requires you to take you eyes off of the road to read it and, if like me, you ride on the trails, it will be permanently covered in mud so I wouldn't be able to read it if I wanted to.

There has to be a decent dash mount solution.
