wind buffeting

Kirkel

Well travelled

i have a touring screen on my bike, but im getting hammered with severe wind noise in my helmet, ive ordered different ear plugs, but ive also removed the screen and will try it without for a few days, over 50mph its horrendous, so interesting to see if the screen on/off effects it, i like the look of the small fly screens, if big screen is causing issue i will gamble buying the fly screen to see how that is

I have never liked tall screens they just seem to aim the blast at my helmet and cause all the problems you are suffering. A friend is a good bit shorter than me I am 6 foot he's 5 foot 6 and he loves his touring screen I think because the blast goes over his head. You can buy a small screen extension that might flip the blast up sufficiently to clear your helmet.

im 5' 7" and even on a short 50mph run last night the difference is amazing, i dont think i will be putting the touring screen back on, i may gamble the £80 for the short fly screen for looks and hope that doesnt impact me or it will be coming back off haha

I am thinking of getting the RE official Guerilla fly screen for the look but they all seem to be out of stock in the UK and I am wary of buying from India due to a previous buy that went wrong.

I am thinking of getting the RE official ive seen 3 slightly different ones from DART, £80 incl delivery Guerilla fly screen for the look but they all seem to be out of stock in the UK and I am wary of buying from India due to a previous buy that went wrong.

Put my RE touring screen on and there definitely is more buffeting. However the massive weight off my chest allows for what feels like more effortless acceleration and a much more comfortable ride. Since the only issue is the increase in noise and not actually pushing my head around, I think I'll keep it. I really enjoy it on my trips to work. 5'11" with 31" inseam, so more of my body is up top.

Agree. When I did my 1800 trip last year, the touring screen does its job to keep pressure off my chest at 7-80 mph. At those speed ear plugs are mandatory. I have have an older Sena20S on my helmet, and when i removed it there was a significant reduction of pounding on the left side of my helmet. I could not believe it made such a difference ! I only put it on while cruising backroads, to listen to music now.
I do not have that issue riding my CX500 with its "barn door" Plexifairing.
