What have you done to or how's your Scram 411 recently?

Hello Scram 411 owners,

I see this topic for our nice older brother, the Himalayan, and when I had a Jeep, it was a good topic as well.

What have you done to your Scram 411 recently? This can be mods, farkles, gear, anything Scram 411 related.

This can also be issues given we have a new model.

How's your Scram today? What have you added or have ordered parts to add?

Had it about two weeks. Adjustable levers, replaced the huge bar ends with some simple caps, installed the large OEM crash bars. Also put on some ROX risers. Next up is full LED lighting with relay, heated grips, easy clutch system and an neat little addon for the rear brake lever from a company called Pro Spec out of India.

(This is my wife's bike, BTW, and mods requested by her.)

Had mine for 3 months now. Made the following changes to my Blazing black
  1. Removed side tank pads. Did not like how they looked.
  2. Added Small OEM engine guard
  3. Added tank stickers to cover up the stock stickers. Just to style it to my taste. This will be a work in progress.
  4. Replace indicators and headlight bulbs with LEDs. I did not like the stock headlamp.
  5. A wireless charging/holder to charge and hold the mobile on the drive
Following are the changes that I would want to do in the next few weeks
  1. Replace the handlebar with that of Yezdi Scrambler (a bike sold here in India). This is so that I have a raised handlebar. This handle bar is cheaper than handle bar raisers.
  2. Add FueX Lite. It is a replacement ECU to optimize fuel injection.
  3. Adding tubeless tyres somehow.
  4. Probably add bar end mirrors.

Sounds like similar purchase time, about two weeks here as well.
Re a relay, if it's of help, added fog lamps and to avoid tapping into fuse box, ran a wire from the running lights on the new license plate frame to have switched positive from the OEM 15A lighting relay to drive a BOSCH 10A relay.

Nice mods. Interested to see pics and that new headlamp and the charging holder. Am looking into Ride-on tire puncture liquid that works with tubeless and supposedly tubed but have not heard back from maker to confirm that. https://www.ride-on.com/

I'll keep that in mind if I she wants to install fog lights. I've got the Novita EP29 relay already wired up as per this thread: https://www.royalenfieldowners.com/index.php?threads/2021-himalayan-led-flasher-relay.1770/ and ready to install when we dive into the lighting.

Regarding the LED indicator bulbs and headlight bulbs, I'd love to hear your suggestions for LED bulbs, particularly if the headlight bulb is plug and play (it seems that sometimes folks on other models are having to cut into the reflector to fit the LED bulb). ALSO, I'm looking and I can find a block of four relays under the seat but can't find a relay map in the manuals anywhere. Which one is the turn signal relay? Are they four identical relays, one for each signal? Have any suggestions on relays to use to make them flash normally?

Regarding the tubeless tires: you and me both. I'd much prefer tubeless, I think. I probably won't worry about it over the winter, but eventually.

Regarding the bar end mirrors: it's the only way to fly, definitely go for it. I'm much happier with the bar end mirrors than the stock "bug antenna" mirrors.

Used this for LED headlight replacement. It was plug and play as far as I can tell. I got it replaced by my local mechanic.
For the LED indicators, I did not bother to replace the relay.

For tubeless tyres, I am planning to wait for an year or so to see if any of the newer RE models have a tubeless tyre/wheel combo that could be a straight fit.

SO, just to make sure I understand, you put LED bulbs into the indicators and had normal functioning, no weird flashing patterns or constant-on or -off? OR, did you install entirely new indicators that may already have had resistors built in?
Keep in mind their bikes came with LEDs stock. We in the USA have to deal with DOT incandescents and the difference in resistance is why we need to augment the flasher when updating to LED. Many time a simple resistor is all one needs.

AHA!

I was aware of the differences between LED and incancescent (thus my questioning) but had no idea that Indian-distributed bikes came with LED. Thanks for the info!

Don't thank me too much, I was wrong LOL I found this thread containing a post where someone in US reversed the polarity of their wires for LED install:

No they dont. None of the RE bikes were sold with any kind of LEDs so far,
I was definitely mistaken about the turn signals being LED (they are actually mini-halogen), but there are at least 7 LEDs on every Himalayan. Don't believe me? Check your manual ;)

The reason I thought turn signals were LED is because the manual I read said LED for the indicator on the dash heh. Mybad.

Mybad too. The tail light on the Scram is LED.
