    Lithium batteries..Opinions/practical experience..??

Ok, so quick question. How did you go about discovering that? Did you just take it in to a shop, or did you go around with and test the draw in different areas? If so, where did you look exactly to find out it was the regulator?! I've got my new battery ready to install, but I'd like to take...

    Lithium batteries..Opinions/practical experience..??

Cool, I'll just let it be, then. I'll set aside some time on one of my days off soon and check out what, if any, power draw issues there are. Who know, I could be fine, and just had a dud battery.

    Lithium batteries..Opinions/practical experience..??

Well I'll definitely consider it. I just ordered a battery, should be here in a week. In the meantime I'll look into replacing the straps for something heavier. There's already so little room in there, I don't wanna go too thick! I ended up going for a battery same size as stock, but 160 CCA and...

    Battery Woes

Cool, I'll do that. It's only about $10 more for the motobatt, and the warranty is longer, I believe.

    Battery Woes

Perfect, thanks! I was thinking there should be something in between the panel and the bike. I appreciate your help! One more question. So I'm looking to replace my battery. The Yuasa people talk about has 135 CCA and is 8 Ah. I also saw someone else talk about a Motobatt(link) that's 160 CCA...

    Battery Woes

I'll start with disconnecting the battery for now, but for $30 I might end up grabbing that solar panel. If it's going to just be a day or 2 between rides rather than a week, I can just hook it to the panel to be safe. Did you just plug it straight into the motorcycle's pigtail, or did you hook...

    Battery Woes

Yeah, It's annoying but I usually have my phone on a mount if I need to check the time. I actually set the clock once, but I was removing my battery so much last winter that I still don't have the clock set! Compass always seems to work fine, but I rarely even use that, generally have GPS up on...

    Battery Woes

Perfect, so I'll disconnect the neg lead if I'm not gonna ride for a little bit, but in the winter (North West USA, ours are wet but usually mild) I'll remove the battery and bring it inside to be on the tender, as I'll likely not ride for longer stretches. You know, I've thought about the...

    Lithium batteries..Opinions/practical experience..??

Hmmmm... Maybe I'll stick with lead acid then. I'm assuming mine has a parasitic draw somewhere as well, no after market attachments, except for the tender pigtail.

    Battery Woes

Ok, then I'll start doing that! Not too much of a hassle to pop the seat and disconnect the negative. Does that simply work because you've broken the circuit?

    Battery Woes

In that post, he says that when you leave the bike for a while without riding, just removing the negative from the battery will help keep the draw he measured from affecting the battery. Is that true? I'm asking because I don't have a way to keep the bike on a tender, no outside plugs. In the...

    Lithium batteries..Opinions/practical experience..??

I'm looking at converting to lithium as well, as my stock batt just died on me. Can I ask why y'all are changing the straps too? Would the OEM ones on there be insufficient for a lithium battery?

Pannier rack installation - Bad fit?

Yeah, I paid I think a total of $136 including shipping to get mine. Dealer would've been I THINK $99 plus labor, and it's a Harley dealership so it would've been EXPENSIVE! I'm gonna try grinding it down to make it fit, just to snug it up a bit. I still think this is something that RE needs to...

Chain cleaning - Fine to use brake cleaner?

Awesome, thanks for the info! In your opinion are they all pretty much the same, or should I look for a specific kind of ATF for use with the chain? I still have a big can of chain lube that I'll go through before changing it up, but I think I'll try it out after.

Chain cleaning - Fine to use brake cleaner?

What's ATF? Automatic Transmission Fluid? Are you taking the chain off and soaking, or you just mean you spray/pour it on? And you're basically using that as a cleaner and lubricant?

Chain cleaning - Fine to use brake cleaner?

Cool, I've always got WD40 laying around, will do! I did use the brake cleaner once, before I saw the whole rubber thing, so that's that. But going forward I'll be smarter about reading labels!

Chain cleaning - Fine to use brake cleaner?

I got a can of brake cleaner from a buddy, and it says not to use it on rubber. Would this be bad for O-ring chains and their rubber gaskets?

Pannier rack installation - Bad fit?

This is probably what I'll end up doing! Got a buddy that works on motorcycles and metal fab to a point, I'm gonna see if he can help me out. I'd imagine just grinding it til it fits will work just fine. I completely agree with this! I know it's not the dealer's fault, but I've already seen a...
