The majority of bikes from the mid 60's through most of the 70's had color-matching side covers and fuel tanks. It would be quite proper for a bike as '60-ish' as the retro RE Interceptor and Continental GT 650's to also have such side covers (and perhaps even a color-matched headlight shell), if even only as a factory accessory for those who might like such a cosmetic option.

My '74 GT750(s), looked great with matching side covers, as did the CB750's, Z1 Kawasakis, and just about everything else from that period.

"Interceptor" side panels were my second customization.
3 mm hex screws on my bike had soft heads and even lightly torqued eventually rounded out, so a new supplier may have been sought.
And after working on the electrics I have found a JIS screwdriver fits the x head screws better, not usually a problem but some screws seem to have soft heads too!
JIS - Japanese Industry Standards (I think) expensive but worth it! Amazon!

Can you just get the decals?
I’m going to have my side panels done in canyon red to match the tank on my interceptor, with a matching cowl and touring seat. I’d like to be able to re-badge it after paint

The 2020 side covers the INT sticker shape is mounded into the plastic and I wasn't happy with how the stickers looked so switched out the whole thing. With a repaint it will probably be good.

Nice thanks, I'll take a look. My rubber turn signal mounts are deteriorating and I'll eventually have to replace the lot.
I really like these double sided20230330_140700.jpg indicators...eBay!
