Fellow riders,
The DGR is upcoming in May 2024 and registrations open up late March.

It's a fun way to raise awareness and help the fight for two important causes : men's mental health and prostrate cancer.

See link below for more details.. most countries and big cities have the ride.

I will be riding the local DGR in North Carolina for the men in my life. Hope you're able to do so too where you are.

Tagging @smilespergallon and @Jon_98 ..my closest Int brother in NC .. hopefully we can both ride that day.
Also @El_Guapo : You rode last year! Much respect and please share more information for others doing it the first time.

Would be awesome to have a thread like last year and people post their local experiences.

Ride safe..ride for someone.

Will be riding in OC California. Wonder where this year’s ride will be hosted. Not listed yet, and the dealership that has hosted the ride for the past few years closed in September.

While it is a very good cause it would be better to do the ride not registered and donate to a local charity where it could be used to help local people .

Try to find the HQ of the DGR .

@vectinterceptor very noble thought. Donating to ones local community is best. I am not part of any riders club per se..just have friends who ride.. If someone can share exp of how they organized a group ride that would be helpful (assuming that's what you meant by riding unregistered).

Here's an interesting DGR Pro Tip: I've always had a moustache or a goatee, or something in between. For the past few years, running with a sort of Ron Burgundy/Burt Reynolds 70s stache.

Last year before the DGR, I trimmed and trained my stache into a handlebar - not a super-waxed hipster thing, just an old-fashioned looking handlebar moustache. I've kept it up ever since last year, and I can't believe the comments I get on it. When it's neatly trimmed, ladies really notice it. A few days ago, a cashier at the grocery store made a nice comment about it.

I'm not single, but man, if I were, I'd be using it to my advantage.

While I detest group rides in general, this is the one and only that I'm happy to participate in and proud to support legitimately. I've lost more than one friend to prostate cancer.

Ok, this is interesting. I've logged on a few times recently to the DGR website, and the 2023 information was still there. Just checked this morning, and it appears that the 2024 ride information was just updated for my area.

The interface looks different this year. Also, in previous years, you could register without paying anything. Just signed on for 2024 registration, and there is now a mandatory minimum $25 donation to complete registration. No problem, I donate every year, but maybe they're trying to weed out people who sign up and don't contribute.

The start and end points for Orange County will be a swanky classic car storage warehouse that I've wanted to check out, that's near the now-closed Triumph/Enfield dealership that hosted the past few years. so that's pretty cool.

Whelp... this is about the time, each year, when I think about how many of my friends I've reached out to for donations, and how few of 'em have stepped up. Lousy skinflints, don't they realize this is important? They all come through, mostly, after a bit more prodding.

I hear you.. I've gotten surprisingly better response from strangers than friends.
Dealerships and businesses related to men's health I reached out mostly bowed back not wanting to contribute money.. perhaps they will engage better if they could participate in some way.

My local motorcycle dealers all dragging feet and I don't know what it takes to move them after 10 follow ups.

All signed up for the ride in Everett, WA. Got a couple donations from old friends, but trying to figure out some other avenues. Someone I talked to suggested posters, with scan codes to but in business windows. OK, but it'd be hard to connect them to individual riders contributions.

Any ideas??

Just got my patch for raising over $250, woot.

They give you a custom email signature block with donation QR code to your donation page. You could make a poster from that.

My boss chipped in. My second job, a museum, didn’t but will probably offer tickets to give away at the ride kickoff. Nice, but not really a donation.
